Sunday January 25th
The British composer Henry Purcell wrote music for a play called Abdelazer over three hundred years ago, but we know it better as the theme from Benjamin Britten's The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra. We'll hear both versions on Sunday morning, as well as different pieces of music played on the bassoon.
Sunday February 1st
We'll hear about the adventures Ratty, Toad and Mole on Sunday, with John Rutter's music for The Wind in the Willows. We'll also hear about the unusual names Haydn gave his symphonies, including the 'Drumroll' and the 'Clock'.
