Apex

Bernard Clarke
Bernard Clarke

The second series of Apex ended on December 27th 2008.

Saturdays, 5.30-6.30pm

Bernard Clarke explores some of the great musical forms and genres that have emerged in the last century, from blues to rock, ska to reggae, folk to rap, afrobeat and beyond. Each hour long programme takes an artist or group and seeks out its musical ancestry, turning the music over, casting about for clues, following flights of fancy and creating a personal map of the terrain.

What has WB Yeats got to do with the music of Kraftwerk? Why does Disney hate Tom Waits? Expect the answers to intriguing questions, archive material, occasional artist interviews and some of the most groundbreaking music of the last century.
