LOOK OF THE IRISH

PHOTO COMPETITION

You can see images of the Irish of times past at Look Back In Pictures, featuring photos from the RTÉ Stills Library.  And watch the season of programmes on Irish photography on RTÉ One from Sunday 9 August.

Now, we want you to help us capture the Look of the Irish today.
Landscapes are lovely but the Look of the Irish is about people.  Send us your pictures of the people living on this island in the summer of 2009.  In groups and on their own, newly born, old and playing, young and working, happy and sad, in their shorts on the beach and done up to the nines.  Show us the people of Ireland.

From Monday 27 July, listen to The Tubridy Show on RTÉ Radio 1 and send your photos to the LOOK OF THE IRISH website gallery.

Judges Brenda Fitzsimons, Tom Lawlor and Mary McEvoy will nominate four short-listed photographs and from Monday 10 August every day the four photographers will tell Ryan the story behind their picture.  And then the judges will choose the winner of a spectacular photographic prize from Canon Consumer Imaging!

PRIZE

For the First Prize winner of The Tubridy Show Look of the Irish competition, we have the fantastic prize of a Canon EOS 500D together with a Canon SELPHY ES20 photo printer. The Canon EOS 500D combines power and versatility in stunning 15.1 Megapixel resolution, or in pin-sharp Full High Definition video. And the Canon SELPHY ES20 photo printer delivers lab-quality photos direct from your memory card or digital camera.
