Tradition dictates that the first citizen of Dublin has the first car registered in the capital each year, and once again Lord Mayor of Dublin Oisín Quinn has chosen the Volvo S80 as his official mayoral car.

Vincent Norton, Executive Manager in the Office of the Lord Mayor, said: "On behalf of the Lord Mayor and Dublin City Council, I would like to convey my sincere appreciation to Volvo Cars Ireland Limited for providing the Lord Mayor for the third successive year with the Volvo S80 D4 SE as the official mayoral car for 2014.

"Volvo cars have a very high standard of specification, including economical fuel consumption and low CO2 emissions.

"It also has a very high reputation for safety, in particular city safety. We are delighted with our ongoing association with Volvo and very much appreciate Volvo's sponsorship of the Lord Mayor's car and the provision of such an elegant and suitable car to assist the Lord Mayor in carrying out his many and varied official functions."

Adrian Yeates, Managing Director of Volvo Car Ireland, added: "We are delighted to continue supporting the work of the Lord Mayor of Dublin in this way.

"Our new D4 engine is not only more powerful than its predecessor; it is more economical and has lower CO2 emissions.

"The Volvo S80 D4 is a visible endorsement of the unique combination of executive comfort and the very low environmental impact that the Volvo range provides."
