SDL Exhibitions, organisers of Ireland's largest motorbike and scooter show, has announced that, for the first time, amateur bike builders will get to showcase their emerging talents alongside professional custom bike builders by entering the Carole Nash-inspired Ireland's Got Biking Talent competition.

Ruth Lemass, event organiser, said: "Custom bike building has become an art form in itself over the years.

"Irish professional custom bike builders are well-respected and known around the world for their individuality, creative and innovative designs, as well as their masterfully ornate paintwork.

"As is so often the case, gifted amateurs never get the chance to showcase their talents in a public forum.

"We wanted to give them an opportunity to display their skills and fantastic achievements to the largest gathering of bike lovers in the country.

"Running this alongside the international qualifier for the AMD World Championships puts them centre stage and will hopefully lead to a greater appreciation of the work they do in their spare time and with limited budgets."

All entrants to the amateur competition will be shortlisted by a panel of expert judges but will face the ultimate test in a public internet vote to choose the winning bikes.

The top 12 successful designs, including the winners, will be displayed alongside the professionally constructed custom bikes partaking in the prestigious International World Qualifier of the AMD Custom Bike Building Competition, which is held at the RDS, Dublin from March 1-3 as part of the Carole Nash Irish Motorbike & Scooter Show.

Lemass added: "There is no doubt that the amateur contestants will also get an insight into the pressure and high standards expected when competing for international honours. You never know - some might end up turning professional and making a career out of it as a result."

The Carole Nash Irish Motorbike and Scooter Show is a must for all enthusiasts and is the largest gathering of motorbikes and scooters to be found under one roof in Ireland.

In addition to the bikes on view, the event also encompasses other attractions such as extreme stunt riders, access to racing legends, live bike action and mayhem in the outdoor arenas, bike accessories, safety clothing, bargain buys, lifestyle fashion shows, Nitro Babes Live and much, much more.
