The Green Commercial of the Year Awards sponsored by ESB ecars are presented to commercial vehicle manufacturers that develop "a new eco-friendly alternative method of propulsion designed to reduce the carbon footprint of the operator".

This product that also contributes to the efficiency of the transport of goods by road can also incorporate significant technical improvements to an existing product.

For the 2013 Green Commercial of the Year Awards there are two categories: Electric and Diesel/Electric Hybrid.

The award is organised by Fleet Transport.

Each nominated vehicle is examined and test driven by a panel of experts consisting of qualified technicians and commercial vehicle journalists.

Candidates for the Fleet Transport Green Commercial of the Year 2013 Awards in association with ESB ecars are:
Electric: Mercedes-Benz Vito E-CELL, Smith Edison, Emerald EV.

Hybrid: Fuso Canter Eco-Hybrid, MAN TGL Hybrid, Renault Premium Hybrys.

In the Truck Innovation of the Year and Trailer Innovation of the Year Awards in association with Texaco Lubricants, a number of top leading brands are in contention for these prestigious annual prizes, such as Mercedes-Benz, Scania and Fiat Powertrain Technologies, while Hiab Moffett, Krone and Schmitz CargoBull have been shortlisted for the Trailer Innovation Award.

The winners will be announced at the Fleet Transport Awards Gala Dinner on November 6 at the Citywest Hotel, Dublin.
