The new Ford Transit Custom, which was launched at a drive event in Munich last week, is the latest in a long line of market-leading Transits, which have sold approaching 7 million units since the first model was introduced in 1965.
Designed to be the most stylish and safe Transit ever, the all-new Transit Custom has a bold new look and is packed with the latest safety technologies, as part of its mission to appeal to a broader range of customers, including skilled tradesmen and small businesses.
While it provides a more car-like interior and driving experience, the new model has lost none of Transit's legendary toughness, combining class-leading load-carrying ability, impressive durability and attractive cost-of-ownership - with best-in-class fuel economy.
Along with its Tourneo Custom sister model, an attractive people mover aimed at private buyers and commercial users, the Transit Custom will be sold in more than 90 markets worldwide, with the vehicle arriving in Ireland in early November 2012.
"Ford Transit has rightly been dubbed the backbone of Irish business as it has been a favourite for businesses, large and small, in Ireland since the first Transit arrived nearly 50 years ago", said Eddie Murphy, Chairman and Managing Director of Ford Ireland.
"The Transit has carved out a niche as Ireland's most popular commercial vehicle and I am sure that the new Transit Custom will continue that tradition. With its new design and a host of advanced features, this is a stylish, modern van which customers will be proud to have on their driveway, while losing none of the hard-working attitude that they expect from a Transit."
