Rum and Pecan sauce

This is perfect with pumpkin pie.


  • 75 g soft brown sugar
  • 275 ml water
  • 75 g butter
  • 4 dsp dark rum
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 25 g cornflour (mixed to a paste with a little cold water)
  • 75 g pecan nuts (roughly chopped)


  1. Place all the ingredients except the pecan nuts in a saucepan and bring to the boil, stirring.
  2. Reduce the heat, add the pecan nuts and simmer for 1 minute.
  3. Serve with pumpkin pie.
