Melba Toast

This is a great to serve with soup.


  • sliced bread


  1. Toast the bread slices in the usual way, then place each slice on a bread board and cut in half, horizontally, using a sawing motion with a sharp knife.
  2. Watch your fingers!
  3. Heat the oven to 200°C (400°F/Gas 6).
  4. Place the toast halves, uncooked sides upwards, on a baking sheet and bake for about 7 - 10 minutes until the toast is brown and curling up at the edges.
  5. Cool before eating.
