- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F/Gas 6).
- Cut a French stick or baguette into 1cm/.5inch slices.
- Quarter the slices and arrange on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 15 minutes, until dried and slightly brown.
- Then sprinkle with a little oil or a dot of butter and bake for a further minute.
