One of Irelands leading retailers, Ardkeen Quality Food Store in Waterford, is encouraging consumers to support artisan food producers through its new “Take Ours Back to Yours” campaign officially launched on Friday November 30th.

According to the Jephson family, who have built Ardkeen Quality Food Store into a centre of excellence for Irish produced food over the last 45 years, value isn’t all about price and more consumers are considering quality, supporting local jobs and knowing where and how food is produced when purchasing.

Ardkeen Quality Food Store in Waterford currently provide over 80 artisan food producers from across the south east and beyond the opportunity to showcase and sell their products. Where necessary they have also benefitted from Ardkeen’s expertise in consumer trends, marketing and, in many instances, making the transition from a farmers market to full retail production.

Now Ardkeen is taking its support of artisan food producers a step further with its ‘Take Ours Back to Yours’ initiative, aimed at encouraging more consumers to sample local food and sustain local jobs. “This is not a new message from us at Ardkeen, we’ve been extolling the virtues of food grown & made locally or nationally on a small scale for the best part of our 45-year existence. However, we thought that it was time to remind ourselves and our customers why it’s still an important message - if not more so, in these difficult times,” according to Colin Jephson.



Ardkeen Quality Food Store has also brought its artisan food experience from its iconic shop to the heart of Viking Waterford through a new Christmas pop-up food hall at Greyfriars Municipal Art Gallery in Waterford City as part of the Winterval festival. The Ardkeen Artisan Food Experience at Winterval brings the Ardkeen philosophy to an even wider audience in the heart of the city, Colin Jephson said.

“The pop up initiative will offer consumers a chance to look, see, taste and buy and meet the producers and chat to them about how their produce is made. It runs throughout Winterval, right up until December 23”, Colin Jephson said.


Ardkeen has highlighted many of its great food community on its website under the banner of ‘Food Heroes’ but happily, it’s an ever evolving and growing list, thanks to a surge in the number of small food enterprises in Ireland.
