My grandmother, Susan Maguire, always made boxty for my family every Halloween and Easter. I look forward to those meals as much as Christmas dinner. This is a modern version of boxty.

Donal Skehan's simple recipe for a festive and warming hot chocolate

Angie looked after my dad when he was growing up, and when I first started going to school she used to walk me home and give me lunch, which was regularly Irish stew. Her Irish stew is legendary in the Skehan family, with my dad’s five siblings and my eleven cousins all having been brought up on it. Angie always knew how to feed an army of hungry mouths, so I hope this version of the recipe does hers justice!
To celebrate Halloween, Barefoot Wine has created Witches Brew, a ghoulish red wine cocktail that is perfect to liven up your haunted get-together and put guests into the spirit of fright night.
Boerewors is a traditional South African sausage made from beef or lamb and flavoured with special blends of herbs and spices. I like my boerewors quite spicy with loads of coriander and white pepper. You can make it for the rest of the year using butternut squash instead of Halloween pumpkin
This is one of my favourite recipes- it looks really fun and the flavour combination is really moreish. I have had students get up in the middle of the night to eat the leftovers of this recipe!
