Valentine’s afternoon tea at the Shelbourne

Love in the Afternoon may be a famous American romantic comedy, but this Valentine’s Day it’s also all about one of Ireland’s iconic afternoon traditions – Afternoon Tea at The Shelbourne.

Whether you’ve fallen into a pool of love, maybe you want to spoil a parent or family member or maybe you just want to bring a fellow single friend out and enjoy Valentines in your own way.

Whether you are indulging in a monthly treat or giving yourself a reward for a January detox, you can indulge and while away the Valentines season with indulgent desserts like petit fours and French fancies.

Alongside the essential elements of a traditional afternoon tea, there is a selection of impeccably dainty sandwiches, homemade scones with clotted cream and jams, and a wide tea and coffee menu

The menu showcases the art of the French pâtissier by including rich passion fruit and mango chocolate cup, divine white chocolate and strawberry fool, chocolate hearts (which might be a symbol of your undying love, except they melt!), ravishing raspberry shortcake and splendid strawberry macaroon.

Valentine’s Afternoon Tea is available in the Lord Mayor’s Lounge at The Shelbourne (Stephen’s Green, D2) from €24.95, or from €34.95 with a glass of Champagne.
