The Today Show launched the competition at the end of January searching a new TV cook to join their team for a month. They put four finalists through their paces at Kevin Dundon's Dunbrody Country House Hotel in Wexford where the chef shared tips on how to become a successful TV chef.
Samara currently works as a waitress in Café Moda in Rathmines. Her father is Moroccan and that has inspired her love of cooking.
She said of her win "I'm still in shock, I can't believe I won the competition. It's very surreal - I'm just over the moon. I never even considered entering something like Masterchef because I just don't see myself as a professional chef, I just love to cook at home for friends and family. I'm delighted to be given this opportunity and I really hope that Today viewers will enjoy my recipes and test them out on their friends and family. Long term I'd love to have my own food column in a newspaper or magazine, be a food critic or write my own cook book."
Presenter Maura Derrane said "We love having cookery slots on Today . Our audience always respond really positively to new recipes. We have a super line up of chefs including Martin Shanahan, Kevin Dundon, Lilly Higgins, Paul Flynn and Catherine Fulvio. I'm thrilled for Samara and hope that this opportunity opens doors for her in the future."
