Fota Island launches cookery book

Simple Pastry is the title of a cookbook which has been released by Fota Island resort in Cork. The book is a selection of pastry recipes, which are tried and tested year-round in the kitchens of Fota Island.

“From delicious breads to creative desserts, with recipes for every occasion and season, there are dinner party specials, summer tarts, elegant petis fours and heartwarming loaves”.

Created by executive pastry chef Rachid Zaouia and his team the recipe book is image-heavy, with glorious close-up snapshots of the various dishes. Roger Overall lends his keen eye and photographic expertise to the cookbook. The pages use lots of white space and the recipes are presented in a simple fashion – structured, to the point and easy (looking, we will report on if this relates to in practice as well).

John O’Flynn, GM of the resort, says “the recipes presented here are some of our guests’ favourites”. He namechecks the scones, mille-feuille and traditional brown bread as some of the particular favourites of past and present guests.

The cookbook is available at the resort for €14.95, or can be ordered with direct postage nationwide for €3.95 extra.
