Maser creates Brown Thomas bag

Irish street artist Maser has collaborated with Brown Thomas on a new shopping bag, it has been revealed.

The limited edition bag will be exclusively available with purchase at all Brown Thomas stores nationwide from April 17.

The collaboration launches the 'Art Is On' creative campaign at the luxury department store, an initiative which sees contemporary pop art married with urban street art.

As well as the bespoke shopping bag, Maser's work will also be displayed on the store's Grafton Street windows.

Maser commented: “Being in the Brown Thomas windows is a landmark location for my art. I see the windows as an iconic space where the city can see and engage with my work as they walk down Grafton Street.

"It’s a new and exciting opportunity using fashion in my work, fashion is art but it’s less permanent and is expressed through form and fabric. Colour is where art and fashion fuse and that’s what I have been working from. I see myself as a messenger. I'd like to bring happiness to the street with my art. Maser is bringing happiness to Brown Thomas.”

Shelly Corkery, Fashion Director of the Brown Thomas Group, commented: “Urban and Street Art influenced the international catwalks this season with iconic brands such as Prada, Celine and Chanel ingeniously incorporating the trend into their season’s collections.  By inviting Maser to integrate his works into the windows and asking him to lend his talents to re-design the shopper bag we hope to create great synergies between fashion and street art for our customers to enjoy.”

The windows will be revealed on Tuesday April 15 and will stay in place until Sunday, May 18. The specially designed Maser bags will be available from all stores with purchase from Thursday, April 17.
