Sarah Jessica Parker finds designing shoes exciting
Sarah Jessica Parker has revealed that she has found working on her new line "exciting".
Speaking to Harper’s Bizarre magazine, the actress said: “The shoe business is so exciting because we don't have to think of black and brown as the only neutrals anymore.”
The Sex and the City star recently teamed up with president of Manolo Blahnik, George Malkemus, to create a line of shoes for American department store Nordstrom.
Speaking about working with Parker, Malkemus said “She has a fan base in the fashion world that's extraordinary, and it's truly because she's such a nice person.”
He added: “Were it anyone but Sarah Jessica, I wouldn't have done it.”
According to Harper’s Bizarre the collection will feature low heels, feminine and unexpected colour combinations like navy and mocha.
The 48-year-old mother of three also explained how her designs have been influenced by memories from her childhood for example Parker wanted the ribbon like material, grosgrain, to feature in her designs as it reminded her of her mother.
Parker is no stranger to the world of fashion having had her own label called Bitten and having worked for free as creative director of luxury fashion label, Halston.
“I love collaborating” said Parker, “I'm a great listener and learner, and I don't think I know more than they do. I'm transparent."
