Irish designer says he won't branch into eveningwear any time soon, calling it "performance" and "tripe".
The designer of the moment, Derry-born Jonathan Anderson, fresh off of a stellar Topshop collaboration collection and announcement that he is to design for Versus, says that eveningwear is "only for award ceremonies and tripe" and he won't be designing it.
"It's a performance, a forced conviction. You don't have to be intelligent to do that", he told London's Evening Standard.
"I hate dresses. Nowadays women want to mix things, a dress limits you in that capacity".
"It's all about ideas" in fashion design Anderson says, which he feels is something which cannot be taught. He is also quick to rule out the idea of celebrity, insisting he is intrigued, but doesn't "feed off it".
Anderson's next collection for Topshop is due to hit stores and online on Valentine's Day 2013.
