The infamous costume worn by Judy Garland as the character of Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz is set to go for auction.
Celebrity auctioneer Darren Julien says Judy Garland's original costume from film The Wizard of Oz could sell for $500,000 (approximately €386,000) when it hits the auction block next month.
The white puff-sleeve blouse and blue gingham pinafore is one of the most recognizable costumes in film history. The dress was custom-made for Garland, who was aged 17 in the year the film was released, 1939. It has a 27-inch waist and her name embroidered on an inside hem label.
The costume will go on sale at the Icons and Idols 2012 Hollywood auction as one of 800 Hollywood items available. The items will be exhibited at Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills from November 5th to 9th before going to auction.
