Trend alert: Shanghai surprise

Invest in cool kimono-style tops and Oriental prints. You'll be full of Eastern promise...

If recent sightings from London Fashion week are anything to go by, there's a passion for Oriental fashion in the air.

The trend has been a slow-burner of a trend for AW12, but the sheer volume of kimonos and Oriental-inspired detailing worn on the catwalks indicated that it's about to become one of the season's major looks.

A quick look at the high street has confirmed our suspicions, as autumn pieces showcasing this exotic trend have begun to arrive, and brands such as Yumi, Lovarni and M&Co have already embraced the look with their AW12 offerings.

A mandarin collared floral print dress is just as elegant as a kimono-inspired robe or blazer thrown on over wardrobe basics such as denim, t-shirts and leather.
