Hello my new favourite base: YSL have really hit a home run with this wonderfully weightless yet perfecting foundation.
Let's start with the ultra-chic packaging. The foundation comes in a sleek rectangular bottle with a very handy doe-shaped applicator. I use this to either dab it onto my hand if I'm using a foundation brush for application, or directly onto my skin if I'm using my fingers.
Both work really well for this formulation - which manages to be both incredibly lightweight and provide adequate coverage to diminish the appearance of blemishes.
The foundation is very liquid, and glides across the skin, effortlessly concealing and evening skintone, while leaving a matte finish. Despite the mattifying qualities, however, this does not leave skin feeling tight or dry - it actually has a very comfortable, natural and long-lasting finish.
Consider me a convert! This has been a lifesaver over the past week of hot, muggy weather. I have found my combination skin, which usually becomes shiny in summer, has gotten on very well with this lightweight formulation. I have had to add a bit of powder to my T-zone in the afternoon, but apart from this, the foundation has lasted really well throughout the day without top-ups.
There are 16 shades in the range, in three tones, beige, rosy beige and golden beige, so there's something to suit a wide range of skin tones.
YSL Le Teint Encre De Peau is available nationwide from August 20, RRP €40.
