Smashbox's Liquid Halo HD Foundation has quickly won its way into my heart!

I first became aware of the product at a recent Smashbox event in Dublin where the brand's co-founder and renowned photograher, Davis Factor, was hosting a special press day for Irish journalists and bloggers.

Smashbox makeup artist Emma was prepping me for a photoshoot with Davis, and her first step to ensuring I looked good in front of the lens was the Liquid Halo HD Foundation.

After using the Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Primer (a personal favourite), Emma applied the foundation with a brush, giving it a smooth, airbrushed look. It can also be applied quickly and easily with finger tips if you're in a rush in the morning.

The Halo foundation has a really natural finish - it lets your skin show through, while also masking discolouration. It feels utterly weightless and comfortable on skin, and crucially, lasts really well throughout the day without fading.

I have combination skin and find it's best to use a tiny bit of powder on my T-zone to ensure I don't look too shiny, but dry skin types might not need this step.

The Liquid Halo foundation is formulated with gel-covered pigments that mimic photo filers to blur imperfections, giving you a luminous glow without looking unnatural.

I use the palest shade, Natural Vanilla for fair complexions, but there are ten to choose from, ranging from light to dark shades.

The foundation gives the ultimate "your skin but better" finish, and is best suited for those looking for sheer-to-medium, natural coverage.

Smashbox Cosmetics is available at and and Boots stores nationwide.
