She is known for her fashion-forward attitude so it's no wonder that Anna Wintour is on a mission to have the Duchess of Cambridge as Vogue's next cover girl.

According to reports, Ms Wintour has asked photographer Mario Testino to use his Royal connections to persuade Kate, 29 to accept her offer.

Mario who regularly shoots cover images for the title, and was a favourite with Princess Diana, has long been friends with Prince William.

He took the couple's official engagement photographs last November, and Ms Wintour is hoping that she can use this relationship to bag a much-coveted shoot with the new Duchess and fashion icon.

A source told the New York Post: "Anna has been speaking to Mario about winning over Kate. She is really pressing him to shoot Kate for the cover."

In the last year both Kate and her sister Pippa have been heralded as the most talked about fashionistas and even the normally fussy Wintour has been singing Kate's praises publicly saying: "There’s nothing trashy or vulgar about her. She dresses her age and never looks out of place."
