U2 frontman Bono and his fashionable wife Ali Hewson wowed crowds at New York Fashion Week yesterday with their latest collection by their label Edun.

The range of clothes, which were made in Africa, showcased some hand-dying and creative use of organic materials.

Superstar Sting and his wife Trudie Styler graced the front row of the event and sat alongside their friends Bono and Hewson.

The couple founded the company in 2005 and with the help of artisan nuns called the “crochet sister” they are helping to sustain a manufacturing business in Africa.

Before the show, Hewson said the collection is “kind of innocent but tough”.

The show, which was held yesterday, remembered the victims of the 9/11 attacks in New York.

Bono commented on the tenth anniversary of the attacks saying: “On a say like this, we’re all American”

Fashion designer Victoria Beckham also held two moments of silence during her show yesteday, one for each of the twin towers.
