Requesting Archive Material-
Broadcasting/Publishing/Media Production

We supply video, audio and photographic archive material for professional use in broadcast programme-making, film production, publishing, commercial advertisement production and other media production.

Ordering Process-

To order photographic archive material from RTÉ Stills Library, please visit our Online Photographic Archive.

To order audio or video archive material from RTÉ Libraries and Archives, please use the request form to contact library sales team:

Your request will be confirmed automatically.

You will be contacted by email by a member of RTÉ Library Sales team within 7 days to let you know if the material is available to order under the terms and conditions for your specified use. You will also be supplied with details of the cost of ordering the material.

If you are happy with the terms and conditions and the cost specified, you may make an advance payment for the archive material.

You will receive the material within a specified period.

Viewing/Listening to Sample Material

Screeners/viewing copies of RTÉ Television archive material can be supplied with a time code that will allow you to identify the shot(s) that you require.

Listening copies of RTÉ Radio archive material can be supplied on request.

Stills Library material can be viewed on RTÉ's Online Photographic Archive.

Viewing or listening to material in RTÉ Libraries and Archives must be arranged in advance.

Licensing Footage

Use of material supplied by RTÉ Libraries and Archives for broadcast or media production purposes incurs a licence fee. The cost of this licence fee depends on the material used and the rights/clearance requested.

Advance payment is generally requested except with regular business customers who may be set up with a credit account.

Terms and Conditions-

• You must agree to the Terms and Conditions for professional use of archive material for broadcasting/publishing/media production in advance of submitting your request for archive material.
• Payment generally must be made in advance of supply of broadcast/publication quality CDs, DVDs, audiocassettes or photographs containing archive material, except with regular business customers who may be set up with a credit account.
• Research services in excess of one hour will be charged in advance.
• RTÉ Libraries and Archives can only supply material where copyright is available.
• You must agree to Licensing Terms in advance of supply of archive material.
