We Own The Streets - Blog
On making it to the next round - Tuesday Mar 23, 2010
Woke up just before lunch to 6 missed calls from our intern Ian, he never has credit so I knew it was important. The results were in, and we'd come in 2nd place. This was more than welcome after last night's debacle. We hadn't seen xL since the last day of filming due to the pressures of single handedly supervising Ian putting together my big opus for the final submission of episode 3. So we decided to surprise X with a few cans in his gaff, like a kind of collective 'taking off of the edge before the big announcement' sort of thing. Frank, his flatmate, let us in to wait for X, but he hadn't seen him for a bit. He offered us a cup of tea and after about half an hour we all sat down to watch a movie while we awaited xL's arrival. This was the first cuppa we'd had in X's apartment. We watched some terrible German documentary about the Loch Ness monster, which made my confidence in my art wain ever so slightly. This I'm sure was just a case of the butterflies before the big results....coupled with the ever worrying absence of X. He's still not answering his phone, but tomorrow's another day. When I feel any pangs of this unnecessary doubt I always think of that quote that I cogged off a girl in front of me in my 3rd year Film Phil. exam.."It is my duty because this [the films] might be the inner chronicle of what we are, and we have to articulate ourselves. Otherwise we would be cows in the field."
