Conor's First Blog Entry!

14 January

Hello Ireland......

Well had my first work out this morning and it went great. Feeling energized and ready to take on the world-- ok ok really: I'm absolutely shattered, thought I still had it from years ago but I learned pretty quickly into Karl's workouts that I have a long road ahead. Hope everyone started today and never give up the dream folks, it will be so worth it in the end.

As I say, "The next time you see me you'll be seeing less of me".

25 February

This is the last farewell. I have been on a fabulous 8 week adventure. It has had its ups and downs but the highs far outweigh(no pun intended)the lows. I have met so many amazing people and made new friends for life.

The time I have invested in this programme would not have been possible without the support of many.
I would like say a huge thank you to Brian, Ian & Kirsty. They have all changed their lives to suit mine. To my mother and siblings, Mary and in-laws who have coerced , cajoled and showered me with help and support. To my boss John and work colleagues,  who have covered for me, cheers.

To all the people who stopped me in shops, in the street ,who honked their horns. A big hello to all in Galway who are all following my progress. To the badminton community all over the country.
You all have my full permission to chastise, reprimand or just shout if you see me with a cream cake, chocolate or any other offending fair.  I have lost 20lbs so far and I am greedy to loss another 20lbs in the next few months. So I will still need all your help.

Congratulations to all my followers you are all now much lighter, fitter and feeling fab. You wont need me now you will all be flying high.

Lots of  love, hugs & kisses

Jean

Colette's thoughts on her challenge!

20 February

Hi everybody,

What a fantastic week I've had so far. My challenge was brill. At the start when Gerry told me what I had to do, I thought I was going to be sick. My heart nearly jumped out of my chest & my hands started shaking, I was having a panic attack, but as the crew got me ready I began to breath deeply & tried to relax a bit. It wasn't going to be easy for me but I decided to go for it.

The first ten minutes of the challenge was spent giving out to myself for letting anyone know what my greatest fear in the world was (getting Lost), because now I had to face it. As time went on & people were so nice & helpful to me, my fear started to subside & I realised I was actually enjoying this experience.

When I reached my first landmark - Karl was waiting for me, he was pleased with my progress (time wise) I was amazed that I made it at all & that I didn't end up on the Wicklow Mts!!

The second landmark - Jean was there with her big smile & open arms - Just what I needed "a mother's Hug". Thanks Jean!!

The final landmark - Pat was looking relieved that I made it & that he didn't have to send a search party up the Wicklow Mts to find me... But it was when I met up with my husband Noel in the "Merrion Hotel" we realised the enormity of what I had just done (for me). I had just let go of a fear that has held me back for years....I could almost feel myself flying, & the feeling of freedom was tangible.  Thank you OP Tran you've changed my life.

I could write another 2 pages describing how wonderful the stay in "The Merrion" was, but I don't think I have space here, so let's just say "The  food was lovely, the service was second to none & we didn't get much sleep!!"  Haha!!

Thanks everyone for all your love & support,

Love always,
Colette XX

An update from Kelly!

19 February

Hello everyone,

Oh my god I can't believe we're at the final week!! It has flown by.  The last few weeks have been life changing for me, I have enjoyed every minute of it.  This week we met stylist Tanya Grimson.  I loved some of the clothes she selected, in particular a black dress form Marks and Spencers.  It flattered me in every aspect.  Tanya gave me advice on how I should dress and I found myself in shops yesterday using that advice.  I picked up a skirt and remembered Tanya said that that particular style wouldn't suit my shape at all.

I have only but a few days left to make my final target weight and I feel under pressure to do so.  My back is very sore and I still can't do all the exercises.  It is very frustrating.  I am 6lbs away from my target weight and I'm going to give it my all.

Thank you to everyone that is following me, it is amazing to have so much support.  It gives me fantastic motivation.  I hope that I haven't let anyone down.  To everyone following the programme, I hope you have all had as much success as we have.  The final is on Tuesday 24th of February at 6pm in the CHQ building,  it would be great to meet you all, to thank you for your support and to give you encouragement too.

My plans for after the show are to continue in my new healthy life and to have a lot of fun!!!! I'm going to live life in the moment and embrace it.  I'm also going to reach my target weight of 10 stone using everything I have learned form Operation Transformation.  This whole experience has been exhilarating for me and I will miss it.

Take care everyone, I hope to see you all at the final.

Love Kelly xxxx

Behind the scenes at Colette's challenge!!!

17 February

Hi everybody,

Yesterday on the Gerry Ryan Show, it was Colette Cronin's turn to face the Operation Transformation Challenge. Colette, whose biggest fear in life is getting lost, was told she had to make her way to a mystery final destination, and in order to find out where that was, she had to stop at three famous landmarks where she would be given clues from familiar faces with where she had to go next.

The rules of the challenge were simple: she had to walk; she couldn't use a map; she could ask anybody for directions; and she had to make it to the final destination before the end of the Gerry Ryan Radio show at 12pm.

After a few words of encouragement from motivational expert, Pat Henry, Colette set off from Ryan Show HQ in Donnybrook, Dublin. Her first stop was the Pepper Canister Church on Mount St, where she was greeted by fitness expert Karl Henry. Karl sent her to the Spire on O'Connell St where fellow leader Jean Kelly was waiting with the next clue. And then Jean sent her off to Merrion St where motivational expert Pat Henry was waiting outside the Taoiseach's Office with her final destination.

Colette's final destination was the 5 star Merrion Hotel, where Colette and husband Noel were going to spend a night in the Honeymoon Suite and be given a romantic meal for two in the hotel's restaurant.

Below are some behind the scene pics from the challenge, but make sure to tune in to RTE 1 this Thursday at 8.30pm to see how the people of Dublin helped Colette conquer her worst fears!!!

A few highlights from last Wednesday's weigh in!

16 February

Hey everybody,

Those of you who listened to last Wednesday's weigh in on the Gerry Ryan Show on 2fm will remember that some of the highlights from that day included leader Denise Ryan losing an astounding 9lbs, and hair dresser to the stars Shay Dempsey, getting his first look at the leader's fine heads of hair before he gives them a sleek new look for the Grand Finale Catwalk Show.

This was a huge treat for the leaders as Shay is one of Ireland's top hair dressers and his client list includes A-Listers; Alicia Silverstone, Gabriel Byrne, Jerry Hall, Helena Christiansen, Heidi Klum and Brian O'Driscoll  to name but a few.

And we here on Operation Transformation like to make sure that all followers can feel part of the show, and to that end below are some pics from this big day.

In these photos we see Denise's reaction when she learns of her staggering weight loss; the delight on both Denise's and Gerry's faces as the panel give their reaction to her losing 9lbs; and Colette's consultation with Shay Dempsey.

All the best,

The OT Team

Mick's first blog!

11 February

Hello folks,

It's Mick here, it's week 5 of Operation Transformation and I'm feeling great. I found it very hard the first couple of weeks with the dinners due to the fact that I never ate any of the food on the menu. I have gotten over that now and I'm flying.

I thought I would have got loads of stick from people for being on the show, but the support I have received is unbelievable. I would like to thank everybody for their support, even the people stopping me on the street, it's been fantastic!

I had my challenge this week and it was brilliant. I had to play 5 a side against a hero of mine, Ray Houghton. Ray's team won 5-3, but I had the time of my life.

I would like to say to anybody following my plan, keep up the good work! And if you're finding it hard stick with it and you will get through it!!!

Thanks a mill,

Mick Boyce

Colette's latest blog!

10 February

Hi to all you slimming people out there,

I hope you're getting on well? Heading into week 5 of the programme & I'm on top of the world!! I'm sticking to the food plan & exercise much easier now as it has become my new routine. I do juggle them about though to work in with my work & family life. The exercise is still very hard & takes a lot out of me, but I suppose if it was easy it wouldn't be doing me any good!!

All the talk has started about the finale which is very exciting but making me panic a bit as I still have 9.5lbs to loose!! I intend to keep my head up & do my best to reach my target & I hope you all do the same!! I know it's not easy but I have the faith for all of us, so come on everybody lets do it!!!

Thank you for all your love & support,

Love always,
Colette.

Mick's challenge!

09 February

Hi all,

Listeners to the Gerry Ryan radio show will already know that this morning Mick Boyce faced his Operation Transformation challenge. Mick was told that  he was going to play a 5 a side football match against a mystery team. Helping Mick in his effort to secure victory were Boycey's Boys; Mick's friends Anto, Steadser, Macker and Niall. But the challenge was tough, and the competition stiff, as the mystery team was none other than Houghton's Heroes who are RTE Sport boys Peter Collins, Tony O'Donoghue, Darragh Maloney, Damien O'Meara and John Kenny, captained by Liverpool legend and former Republic of Ireland star Ray Houghton.

It was a tightly contested match but Boycey's Boys lost out in the last few minutes of the match with the final score of 5-3 not truly reflecting the closeness of the contest.

Below are some behind the scene pics from the match, and make sure to tune into RTE 1 this Thursday, 12th February at 8.30pm, to see all the highlights from the game.

All the best,

The OT Team

A word from Denise on her trip to Finland!

06 February

Hey to all the people that are following me on this Operation Transformation journey!

Well I'm just back from Finland with Dr. Eva.  We had a brilliant time. Finland is fantastic. During and after my weekend away i felt my confidence growing.  I really don't think that I would of done all those activities when I was two stone heavier.

Also, I am now going to take up swimming. I am not able to, and after my experiences in water during my challenge I want to, and am going to.  I consider myself very lucky to have gone to Finland and have all those positive experiences.

I know plenty of people have weekends away and want to stick to their diet plans and I did just that and still lost weight, so anyone can!

So now we are half way in, though I will be continuing after the show is over, and all of you out there that are going to do the same best of luck.

WE CAN DO IT. YES WE CAN.

Will keep you all posted,

Transforming,
Denise xxx

Jean's reflection on yesterday's weigh in!

05 February

Hi everybody,

This was my 4th weigh in and I lost 1 lb. My target weight loss for the week was 2.5lbs.

I was very disappointed with the result. I had stuck religiously to the programme and was really sore after the exercises. I was also amazed at the very negative reaction of the expert panel to assume that I had fallen off the wagon. WELL I HADN’T!

I would like to say to those who are following my plan HANG IN THERE. I know it will show on the scales next week. Us women have body clocks that tick to a different beat sometimes and I wouldn’t like anyone to get disheartened. This programme does work.

On a much lighter note (no pun intended), I feel great and am full of beans. My clothes are all very comfortable and the charity bag is filling up nicely.

I would like to congratulate my fellow leaders on their weight loss, and thank them for their very kind support.

Lots of love
Jean

A message from Kelly!

02 February

Hello Everyone,

I can't believe we are at the half way mark already!!  So far I have enjoyed all of it.  Yes it is tough, but Operation Transformation has changed my life for the better. My shopping bill has greatly reduced and cooking the meals takes up little time.

I now get up an hour earlier in the morning to do the exercises Karl has set for the day.  Yesterday I put on a pair of jeans and a top, they were too big and boy did it feel good!!!!  My hard work is paying off and I love the results.

Thank you to everyone that is following me and writing in to encourage me.  It has been so encouraging to read all your comments, thank you.  I hope you are all getting great results.

Last Sunday I had a set back, I fell off a horse and hurt my back.  As a result I was told not to exercise.  I was disappointed because I didn't make my target weight lose.  I started some exercises again and it feels great. I'm taking one day at a time, this is a new life for me and it is throwing hurdles all ready, but as they say you have to take the good with the bad! The fall set me back, but I'm on the path to a new me.

Good luck to everyone following the programme.
