Style Trial: Cheryl Cole

I usually think Cheryl Cole doesn’t put a foot wrong when it comes to her style choices, but this to me was a big no-no.

For her 26th birthday party, she went all out in a £4,000 Alexander McQueen flapper style dress – with a front sheer panel that exposed much too much in my opinion.

I quite like the appliquéd flowers and leaves which decorate the shoulders – it’s just a pity they don’t cover up more of the sheer section better.

The swishy skirt of the dress works better, and gives it a fun flirty look – but the tackiness of the sheer panel undermines its pretty elements. She paired the frock with a celeb favourite – nude, peep toe Louboutin heels and minimal jewellery.

As per usual, her grooming was immaculate – with her usual tousled mane being replaced by a sleek ponytail and relatively natural looking make-up.

What do you think of this look?

I feel naked looking at her in this dress! Kudos to her for having the confidence to wear it (with a body like hers you'd be hard pushed not to show it off), unfortunately it does look tacky. Too bad; I'm a fan of the flapper style fringing and the appliqued flowers, but the exposing middle area is quite a frightening prospect. I've been wondering sometimes if she actually had the dress on backwards haha

So so so tacky. Typical of Alexander McQueen I think. It doesn't matter how expensive they are, most of his stuff is just downright gaudy.

The only thing I would say negative is that there is too much flesh exposed in the mid region but Cheryl can pull this off as she is fabulous and has a body most women will envy but never get.
