Style Trial: Cate Blanchett
I’m a huge fan of Cate Blanchett’s style. She always looks totally comfortable in her own skin, whether wearing a hot-off-the-catwalk dress on the red carpet, or dressed down.
Here she makes the most of her ethereal beauty in a rich purple Armani Prive dress. The one-shoulder cut of the dress is artfully done, and it even ticks another trend box by being lightly padded on the shoulder – which should look weird but actually works really well.
The dress drops to mid-calf length, with a slit up the side which has a 80s look to it – but it the classiest way. As you would expect, make-up and accessories are kept to a minimum to let the dress do the talking.
Cate manages to effortlessly combine looking stylish and up-to-date without ever coming close to resembling a fashion victim.
