Is this what passes for red carpet dressing in the fashion world these days?


I was shocked to see the usually quirky-but-prettily-dressed Daisy Lowe trussed up in this sheer fabric with suspenders and purple satin underwear.


She wore this to the ‘Alice in Wonderland’ premiere, so it might be a somewhat themed outfit, although it’s lost on me.

Alexa Chung is a lot of people’s top style crush at the moment, and it’s easy to see why. The TV presenter and model has an individual, widely emulated look that combines boyishness and preppyness with a feminine edge.


Her fashion kudos skyrocketed this season, why Mulberry launched a bag named after and inspired by her, the ‘Alexa’. This covetable piece of army candy has a lengthy waiting list, but there are sure to be high street imitations abounding soon.

Alexander McQueen

Today’s style trial blog is dedicated to the renowned British fashion designer Alexander McQueen, who died this week.


McQueen wore born in London’s East End in 1969, the son of a taxi driver and teacher and the youngest of six children. At sixteen he left school to start an apprenticeship at the Savile Row tailors, and eventually made suits for Prince Charles.


McQueen’s career took off with the creation of low-slung, ‘bumster’, jeans in 1996. The controversial garment put the designer on the map and set him on course for a career that was never predictable or bland.

Style Trial: Lea Michele

‘Glee’ star Lea Michele triumphed on the red carpet at the 2010 Grammy’s in this simple outfit.


The rest of the awards attendees went for full-on, over-the-top dresses, such as Rihanna’s white voluminous frock, or Jennifer Lopez’s silver and white thigh-split horror, but this was by far the best look I spotted on the red carpet.
