Style Trial: Kristen Stewart

You get the impression that Kristen Stewart is a bit of a tom-boy, much like the character of Bella who she plays in the ‘Twilight’ films. It therefore is often disconcerting to see her dressed up to the nines on the red carpet in the latest hot designer’s offerings.

Here she took to the red carpet in London for the premiere of ‘New Moon’ in a Proenza Schouler dress for spring 2010.

I normally adore Cheryl’s style – in fairness to her, she rarely puts a foot wrong when it comes to her fashion choices.

This dress though, is a step too far in the futuristic fashion stakes, and not a good choice for Cheryl.

Style Trial: Lily Allen

Lily Allen just keeps growing in the style stakes. Every time I see a new picture of her, she looks more sophisticated than before, but with her own individual edge.

Being a darling of Karl Lagerfeld’s is doing her no harm, and she probably has an excellent stylist beavering away in the wings, but I still admire the choices she makes!

I tend not to think much of Agyness’ style, but this outfit is gorgeous without losing her sense of individuality.

She goes for an eclectic look most of the time – with clashing assortments of clothing that have a ‘trendy bag-lady’ feel. This however, is chic and stylish without being over the top.

Angelina Jolie looked red-hot in a figure hugging leather bandeau dress at the premiere of 'Inglorious Basterds', however I think it was the film’s star Diane Kruger who really stole the show on the red carpet.

Style Trial: Sienna Miller

I’m not afraid to eat my words – I was wrong about Sienna Miller. After the sequin-suit blip in the style stakes, she comes back with a vengeance. Still on the ‘G.I. Joe’ promotion trail, this week she stepped out in two drop-dead gorgeous outfits.

The LA premiere saw her don a fabulous floor length gold gown, encrusted with subtle beading at the neckline. Classy, but with a dash of old-school glamour, she certainly stole the show on the red carpet.

Style Trial: Stella McCartney

Stella McCartney’s outfit here is a lesson in understated elegance. The designer usually goes for quite a masculine, pared down look with killer accessories for that extra edge.

Here, she wears skin-tight, dip-dye jeans of her own design which I’ve seen on Victoria Beckham and model Lily Cole, but she wears them best herself.

Another trouser suit hits the Style Trial blog with Rachel Bilson's odd choice for a night celebrating the one year anniversary of Phillip Lim’s boutique in LA.

Ordinarily, she goes for quite a dressed down – jeans and a t-shirt look, or a feminine, form-fitting frock for big occasions. She often embraces the masculine trend, which seems to suit her small frame.

I’d like to point out firstly that I usually am a fan of Pixie Geldof’s pretty unique sense of style. She goes for combinations of clothing that you wouldn’t normally put together, and she never looks like she’s spent half the night staring at herself in the mirror.

Maybe she could have done with a second glance before leaving the house in this get-up, though.

For her 26th birthday party, she went all out in a £4,000 Alexander McQueen flapper style dress – with a front sheer panel that exposed much too much in my opinion.

Lily Allen has been looking great these days. Loving her new sleek ‘do, back to its glossy black best. The thick fringe suits her down to the ground too.

This outfit she wore to a charity karaoke event in London was perfectly chosen to highlight her new deep tan (could be fake, but she’d just come back from her holidays and it looks legit to me!).

Style Trial: Rihanna

Rihanna has been taking a high fashion approach to dressing of late, with a barrage of statement shoulders and mega heels to rival the most fashion forward of people.

I’m not sure if her new look always works, for example the Dolce and Gabbana trouser suit she wore to the Met Costume Institute Gala looked more Mickey Mouse than anything else.

Style Trial: Victoria Beckham

I’m not the biggest fan of Posh’s fashion sense, I usually think she looks over styled and a bit contrived, and this outfit is no exception.

Despite the fact that she usually goes for pretty simple clothes, I don’t think she ever really nails it. A white skirt, black top and cardie sounds pretty inoffensive on paper, but I just think it doesn’t work.
