The X Factor - Third Live Show

You know you're hopelessly addicted to The X Factor when you sneak into your friend's garage to watch the results show in the middle of her housewarming party! (Don't frown on me, I wasn't on my own. The 'secret' crowd was about 20 strong by the time Dermot made the final announcement!).

Shock Result
Gutted for Miss Frank!Anyway, judging from the reactions of most people in room/shed at that stage, the bottom two seemed to come as a surprise for most people. Personally, I was gutted to see Miss Frank there. I love their style. I thought that they were really good on the night and, importantly, I thought that they had a lot more to give to the show. I was also surprised, if not particularly upset, to see Danyl in the bottom two. He put in a good performance, as usual, but I just can't warm to his style at all. I'd like him to tone it down a bit. Judging by the voting, maybe a few others would too. As soon as I heard who the bottom two were I knew it was going to go to deadlock, seeing as the decision would have to come down to either Cheryl and Dannii. And in that case, you got the feeling that either one of them would leave it up to the public vote, seeing as they both seemed shocked at the two acts who were standing in front of them.

Cheater, Cheater…
Did Simon break the rules with Jamie?!You probably wouldn't hear me say this often but I agreed with Louis on Saturday night. It wasn't fair for Simon to bend his own rules for one of his acts. Everyone else stepped outside their comfort zones and sang a song that was considered a classic big-band track, while Jamie got to stick with his own style and sing a rock number that didn't really fit with the theme of the week at all. Was Simon just trying to create a bit of drama with the last-minute song change or was he afraid that Jamie would really struggle with the theme? Either way, it wasn't really fair on everyone else and what makes it worse is that fact that Simon would be the first one to criticise one of the other judges if they had done the same thing. Bad form (even though I still love both Simon and Jamie Afro!).

Strength to Strength
Olly shone this week. This week Joe nailed it again. It seemed that no matter what he is asked to do he gives it his best shot and comes out looking, and sounding, really good. He's definitely one to watch. I also loved Olly's performance. The style really suited him this week and it was a great song choice for him. I hope he stays in for a good while. Lucie also turned in another amazing vocal performance this week, seeming much older than her years when she stood up there on the stage. I think now she needs to show off a bit more of her personality to keep the votes coming in.

Poor Lloyd is struggling a bit.Gutted for little Lloyd again this week. He really seemed to struggle. I loved him in boot camp and at the judges' houses but he seems a little bit lost now and his vocals seem to be suffering. I'd worry for him on rock week. Rachel really pulled it back this week. Great new look, very energetic performance but… I'm with The Xtra Factor celebrity panel - what was she thinking with the interview afterwards? Is she trying to be Stacey or is this now the real Rachel? Either way, I'd tone that down a bit too because afterwards nobody was talking about her great comeback performance and everyone was talking about the giddy rant. Next to Stacey - really like her voice but didn't think that this was a particularly strong week for her. Didn't like the song choice and wasn't mad about that dress either. She looked a little bit uncomfortable.

Too much fuss?
John and Edward - Trying really hard. And we can't forget John and Edward (or should I get down with the lingo and start calling them Jedward now?!) - at this stage I have to say fair play to them, in a way. I don't think that they are particularly strong singers but Louis did decide to put them through and now I think that they're really trying every week and they're definitely entertaining if nothing else. Someone is voting for them and keeping them in every week. It might be controversial to say but maybe people should cut them some slack. The outrage in media circles and online communities seems a little excessive. They are just teenagers after all! And I'll rest my case with two words... Same Difference?!

We Heart Bublé!
Michael Bublé has great with the contestants. I have to say I was so impressed with Michael Bublé last weekend. I've always been a fan of his music but it's nice to see that he seems like a genuinely lovely guy into the mix. He was great with the contestants, really encouraged them and tried to find as many positives as he could. Whitney could learn a thing or two from his attitude. And sticking with the performances, good to see Westlife back in action again! It's been too long.

Such an outrage that MIss Frank are gone!! They were so good. As much an all as Jedward are entertaining, they did not deserve Miss Frank's spot!! No way! I love big band week because all the songs are....big band! Attention Jamie Afro!! Cheater Cheater pumpkin eater!! Should have been sent straight to the bottom 2! Glad to see Danyl in the bottom 2, he had a good performance but all the hand throwing and the dancin all over the place is a little bit ridiculous and I hope it brings him down a bit. I loved Lucie this week, I thought she did really well, that is a big song!! Poor Llyod!! I love him and was DELIGHTED he got in (to the extent that I jumped up and down!!) I hope he gets on better!! Rachel did brilliant...not the rant but am looking forward to seeing her in rock week!!

Rachel needs to go .... humble much .. dont think so ... people say daniel is too confident??? ... rachel is far more up herself than daniel .. she needs to go!!

I really think that Danyl should have gone. He can sing for sure, but he is not connecting with the audience. I don't think he is likable, he just seems so staged the whole time. And then for the sing off he came out and performed his first audition exactly the same as the first time, proof that he is not a spontaneous performer as first thought. Very disappointed for Miss Frank, thought that both their main performance and the sing off performance were great. On the plus side, I am actually loving the twins for the light entertainment they provide. Of course they won't win, but I like that they don't moan and just seem to be having a laugh. Also, I agree with Linda that Rachel ruined her comeback with being over the top when talking to Dermot. I can't see her lasting much longer.

Really enjoyed x factor this weekend, have liked Rachels' singing each week and she did great this week but really really hated her interview she was literally acting like an eejit, I really think Danni told her to be like stacey coz thats so obviously what she did, I don't think it'll do her any favours. The sooner Danyl goes the better, what a poser you just know that he has spent a LONG time in front of his bedroom mirror with the hairbrush practising his head throwing and facial expressions was too OTT, so annoying. Absolutely LOVED westlife they were fab.

John and Edward apparently got the most votes Saturday if reports are to be believed. If they win, which seems to be a very plausible outcome, I genuinely don't think X-Factor could continue as a series. To see Miss Frank go and John and Edward stay in is a real shame. Fair enough they are entertaining but not for the right reasons. It is after all a singing competition. Louis knew the groups were the weakest of the series so put them in for a laugh. Does anyone honestly believe he thought they had talent? For the sake of the authenticity of the show they should be asked to leave the x facor so that the genuinely talented people can get the votes that they deserve.

Posted by Aaron on October 27, 2009 at 11:53 AM GMT #

Couldn't have put it better myself Aaron. The fact that John and Edward are being kept in is making a mockery of the show.

Ah would everyone lighten up about Jedward! It's not their fault that they're being put through every week! I agree with Louis that it's downright rude to boo them! They're only kids and are making the best of what they can out of their "X Factor Experience". They're a bit of fun and don't take themselves too seriously! At least they're not trying to make out that they're the most talented! If people don't want them in, then they won't vote for them! I personally look forward to their performance every week! It's always something different, entertaining and worth watching. They have everyone talking, and that's precisely what the programme producers want every year! They have the Chico factor!!! GO JEDWARD!!!!

I am loving the XFactor but my god can someone give Rachel some valium before next week. I have never seen such an ejit in my life. Tone it down totally. I didnt think it was fair that Simon was allowed to change the rules for Jamie cause he seemed to struggle. Shouldnt have been allowed and what made it worst was the fact that he said Lucie wasnt good enough and her performance was great when she clearly and all the other contenstants stuck to the rules. Big Band Week. Simon seems to have two sets of rules one for his acts and another for the other acts. Disappointed to see Miss Frank gone they were good but glad to have seen Danyl in the bottom two. He really needed to be taken down a peg or two for sure. As for John and Edward they are beyond awful with the singing but for the entertainment factor they are pricless. I think its unfair that the crowds in the studio keep shouting them off the stage they are only young teenagers. Go easy on them I dont want them to win but spare their feelings. I really hope Rachel goes cannot stand that high pitched squealing anymore not a good side. My god Michael Bauble is soo hot and seems really nice and Westlife and his performances were the best of the night and at least they spoke to Dermot unlike the performances of Whitney and Robbie previous weeks. Way to go XFactor am loving and cannot wait until next Saturday (ruining my social life with two night) but hey loving it :)

Loved the show this week. Thought Olly was brilliant, look forward to him every week. Rachel definitely did much better this week (and thank god she god rid of that hair do!) but like everyone else, I found the rant highly irritating. I think Rachel, Jedward and Lloyd (sorry!) need to go over the next three weeks so that the competition can start moving on. Love Jedward but lets face it, they are not going to have successful singing careers after so the public should not vote for them as the best act. I think now that Miss Frank are gone Louie has a very very low chance of winning/getting anywhere this year. Whatever reason he put the twins in for has now totally backfired and it makes me question how safe Louie's job is next year if the Twins knock out on of Simon's acts...? It's all just drama but I love it. Can't wait for next week :)

Posted by Jeff on October 27, 2009 at 01:27 PM GMT #

I have no clue why Louis kept going on and on about Jamies song, did no one hear John and Edward, since when is Ricky Martin classed as big band. Louis did the same as Simon and shouldn't have kept going on and on about it!!

Posted by liny on October 27, 2009 at 01:29 PM GMT #

I really think the producers need to curb the audience booing J&E its getting ridiculous for two young lads. I know they arent the best singers but they were nearly in tears when they got booed on the Xtra Factor. Lets not forget that ALL the judges put them through boot camp not just Louis so they are all responsible. People want to be entertained and not have a boring balladfest. It goes to show how bad the lineup is this year. Danyl should have went, all the fakery of mic throwing and stupid facial expressions are annoying to the extreme.

Posted by Paul on October 27, 2009 at 02:12 PM GMT #

I think Rachel was so good and I loved her new haircut. Her weird Stacey impersonation at the end was ridiculous though and if she doesn't quit that then she'll be out before long I'd say. It was crazy that Danyl and Miss Frank were in the bottom 2 but that's what happens when the public vote. Danyl was clearly better in the final sing off even if he was annoying doing his dancing. I think Miss Frank will be good but they just need more time together. Olly was fab as always, Stacey was good but she needs to believe in herself more I think. Lloyd to go next week - can't imagine him doing rock - I imagine it will be painful! As for the twins - I think they seem like nice boys and it is ridiculous the way they are being booed. I certainly wouldn't vote for them but there are clearly people who do, probably to spite Simon... But everyone should lay off them - it is not their fault and again they do seem like nice kids. Finally wasn't it such a relief to see Michael Buble talking to Dermot after his performance? Nice to see a 'normal' celebrity! And Westlife were fab too.

Posted by ec on October 27, 2009 at 02:40 PM GMT #

there were also two Ricki Martin songs and a Tina Turner song and none of them would be classed as big band!

Who is voting for John & Edward, If the Irish are excluded from voting ? Danyl to go next, way too cocky and only worried about pleasing the judges which is why he lost the respect of the public. Lucy to win !

Posted by 127.0.0.1 on October 27, 2009 at 04:27 PM GMT #

Can't wait for Daryll to go. Guy wreaks my head. Excellent singer and preformer but attitude is all wrong. I dont think J&E will win the competition. As more people get eliminated the people who had voted for them will switch to another 'singing' act. At some point those will outnumber the J&E voters. However they could make it though alot more shows!! Joe to win if can brush up on his preformance skills!

I cannot believe the amount of grief Danyl is getting for being talented! If people are wondering why he is so staged, its because he has been so heavily critised that he looks like he can't relax. No one has abused Olly and now look he is going strength to strength. I hope Danyl can go back to that fun sexy guy we saw in the first audition. Obviously John & Edward and Jamie should of been in the bottom two being the weakest singers & performers in the competition. Anyone interested in Jedward certianly have no passion let alone interested in music!(nothing against them personally though, give them a kids show to present!)

Posted by CB on October 28, 2009 at 09:44 AM GMT #

I find it hilarious that everyone seems to really believe that Simon has a major problem with Jedward. He has probably never slept more soundly in his life knowing that as long as they are still in the competition then X Factor will receive plenty of column inches! They're only kids and I think the way they are being targeted is nothing short of bullying! People really need to lighten up and remember that X factor is an entertainment show plain and simple and personally I find Jedward very entertaining! Much more than drips like Lloyd.

Posted by Lily on October 28, 2009 at 10:05 AM GMT #

I totally agree with you CB. Danyl is unbelieveable talanted and one of the best male vocalists i've heard in a long time. I look forward to hearing more of him,

Posted by val on October 28, 2009 at 10:24 AM GMT #

Hiya!!! Just want to say dat im behind John and Edward all the way!! They might not be the best singers but they are entertaining and have got the X Factor!!! I love Joe and Lloyd!!! They're amazing and Stacey is so cool!!! I love her!! I love har reaction to everything!!

Posted by Emma on October 28, 2009 at 11:41 AM GMT #

I think that Simon purposefully picks on one act each year that he 'hates', they usually are not the best act anyway but his targeting them will ensure that millions of people will vote for them just to annoy him. In fact, everyone who does is playing into his hands because it means that other quality acts will be voted out and therefore giving his acts a better chance of winning ultimately. Case in point - Jedward. But it almost backfired this week with Danyl being in the bottom two, I think he is coming across as too cocky despite his obvious talent. He needs to be more humble. Rachel must have been told to be more like Stacey but she made it appear that Stacey had actually taken over her body, or maybe it was a joke! It was embarrassing... stop it NOW! Not overly impressed with any of the acts really. I find that I like some of them when they perform but have forgotten about how they did by the time the next act is on stage, not good. The girls are the strongest category this year. Jamie Afro should have gone this week, he is a very limited performer. Michael Buble was amazing and very cute in an ordinary, boy-next-door kind of way. Enjoyed Westlife's performance but they didn't say much afterwards. I can't miss the show each week, so it must be doing something right!

Miss Frank rapping at big band night I don't think so nearly as bad as Jamie sing Angel of Harlem

Posted by colette corcoran on October 28, 2009 at 11:49 AM GMT #

Big band week is always my favorite but it was a big let down - Jamie cheater should have gone straight to the bottom 2 or been disqualified, it was a disgrace. Love Danyl, he is up there in the top 3, sorry to see Miss Frank go, but danyl deserved to stay. olly though - rapidly becoming my fav, I actually clapped when he finished. And as for gedward.... Im sorry Im really starting to like them, they are pure entertainment!!!!

Posted by susan on October 28, 2009 at 11:56 AM GMT #

Danly to win, and those twins to go and rachel the copycat to go, why she thinks acting like a clumsy git is going to get her votes...ahhh no! luv jamie and olly too...

Posted by jean on October 28, 2009 at 12:21 PM GMT #

I totally agree with Susan. The X-Factor is an entertainment show and Jedward bring far more entertainment than the rest of the contestants. People really take the show too seriously. As for CB's post "Anyone interested in Jedward certainly have no passion let alone interested in music!" what rubbish! X-Factor is merely a means for Simon Cowell to milk as much money as possible out of an above average karaoke singer singing some tedious generic pop tunes. I'd go for entertainment over that sort of music any day. Jedward to win!!

Posted by A on October 28, 2009 at 12:34 PM GMT #

Yo, Sean up there.... Xfactor makes a mockery of itself... John and Edward have as much right as any of them to win.... it is not a singing comp as they all like to think it is, its a popularity contest, and J&E are winning hands down. Good on them. Love seeing Cowell squirm! Louis has really done it this time, and might have finally got himself a group winner! Cheryl is so rubbish on this show.... she has as much right to talk to those kids about their singing talent as the badger that lives at the end of my garden.... neither can sing, both stink and you wouldnt want to get in a fight with them! J&E to win!!!

Posted by Sharon on October 28, 2009 at 12:52 PM GMT #

totally agree with sharon ... on every point.... well said

Posted by 192.168.24.17 on October 28, 2009 at 04:12 PM GMT #

Xfactor is turning more and more into the Eurovision song contest........ and why you wonder do i say that.....??? because of John and Edward..... Its not a singing competition anymore...sick of it already

Posted by shane on October 28, 2009 at 10:41 PM GMT #

Right, Great show, all the acts were fantastic and not alot between them all, not the biggest John and Edward fan but i think they did really well this week and i think there singing is getting better!!! Loved the Afro and think that angel of harlem is a lot closer to a big band song that she bangs! Best of the night was Olly and Danyl i think, think Lloyd is going to win it though, for one reason and one reason only, FACEBOOK! Have a look at their official fan pages and last i checked Lloyd had the biggest fan following of them all! Really enjoying the saturday night show again this year, not so much the sunday but hey its Fantastic television!!!!!

Posted by John on October 29, 2009 at 02:06 PM GMT #

I totally agree with Sharon too. XFactor is not a singing competition; it's a celebrity-making competition. There have been some good vocalists who've WON the show and have faded into obscurity, because this is more about entertainment and personality than singing. People really are taking this too seriously; it's only the X-Factor - light entertainment and a fun talking point! No more, no less! ........... I'm still concerned by the amount of Jedward-hate out there, though. When focused at two young kids, it leaves a really bad taste in the mouth.

Posted by Lee on October 29, 2009 at 02:54 PM GMT #

Jedward are the only fun thing on the show! They are the reason to watch. Olly is good but dont really care too much about the rest of them! I'm all for Jedward winning. Considering all the stick they've taken and the boos they get each week, they are holding them incredibly well. They dont cry or moan or whinge, they just take it on the chin and put on a great show! The rest of the contestants could learn a lot from them!

Posted by Mary on October 29, 2009 at 03:07 PM GMT #

It's a joke that Miss Frank went. Neither them or Danyl should have been in the bottom two. Lloyd really needs to go! It's only the young girls voting for him! Lucie gave an amazing performance, Simon was out of line with his comments. He's only planting negative seeds in peoples minds because he's threatened by her! How much further can Jedward actually go???

Posted by P on October 29, 2009 at 09:03 PM GMT #

Let's face it, most of us will be waiting to see what sort of shenanigans Jedward get up to this week. Go on, admit it - which would you rather have - Jedward or NAMA? Thought so! 7

Posted by Deirdre on October 30, 2009 at 02:31 PM GMT #

I find it more believable that rachel would have topped the vote last wk as it has been reported 2day....i really found it hard 2 believe that the twins were top, people like them, cause they're entertaining but i dont think people would seriously vote for them 2 win so for them 2 be in the bottom 4 each wk so far would make alot of sense to me. I would have put one or 2 others ahead of rachel last wk, even though she really showed her talent in last wks show and im sure people felt sorry for her for being in the bottom 2 in both previous weeks. Olly to win for me, hands down he's got the whole deal, looks, voice, likeability factor, performance, charisma...everything....roll on tomor nite, and BON JOVI wohoo!!

Posted by 127.0.0.1 on October 30, 2009 at 03:56 PM GMT #

I am just loving the xfactor this year. John and edward are absolutely halarious. I can't wait to see them perform each week and am on the edge of my seat watching the result show. Then its a YESSSS when they make it through another week. My niece has just chrisined two hens after them. GO JEDWARD

Posted by aj on November 01, 2009 at 10:57 PM GMT #

It's about time the viewing public(especially the voting British public should wake up and realize how much they're being duped by this tv farce. The one good thing about last weekend's x-factor show was that it so insulted the intelligence of the audience that, maybe, this week people will have switched off.
