The Showbiz Blog - Oscars Fun & Games!
The Oscars shortlist has been revealed setting up some interesting battles between Hollywood's biggest stars. We'll probably all have conversations at the watercooler about who deserves to win what but on the night our catty side will emerge as usual…
Brangelina
And when the claws come out one of the first questions we'll be asking is: What will Angelina Jolie's face look like if Brad Pitt wins the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' and she doesn't pick up the Best Actress gong for her part in 'The Changeling', or vice versa of course? Will there be smiles through gritted teeth or genuine happiness for the other person?
The Frills and the Frights…
Drama aside, one of the most fun parts of watching the Oscars ceremony is always the fashion parade on the red carpet. Who will wow and who will you be cringing for (while secretly loving the fact that fabulous celebrities can get it very wrong too sometimes!)?

But the biggest talking point right now has to be the nominations and trying to predict who will walk away with what. Personally, I was really thrilled to see Martin McDonagh's 'In Bruges' making the shortlist for Best Original Screenplay. I've watched the movie at least three times and have laughed louder every time I've seen it, brilliant writing, which deserves credit.
As for Best Actress and Actor, they're always hard to call.
Will Mickey Rourke do the business this year? He has to be considered a frontrunner. And, after watching her episode of 'Extras' again the other night, I'm feeling a little bit like I should be rooting for Kate Winslet. The speech alone would make it worth it! As for Best Picture, I'm completely torn but I have a feeling that 'Slumdog Millionaire' could be the one…
