The Showbiz Blog - Christmas Plans

Having completed the monumental task of reviewing the entire year of 2008, the Showbiz Blog has turned its attention to celebrity Christmas plans and discerned three patterns already. If copying celebs is your thing, you can have a Tacky Celeb Christmas like Cheryl Cole, a Smug Celeb Christmas like Brad Pitt or a Complicated Celeb Christmas like Madonna. Simple.

This was prompted by the normally inoffensive Brad Pitt, who angered us this morning by announcing that he would be having quite the Holier Than Thou Celeb Christmas.

Pitt, one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, said: "We do exchange gifts, although we don't feel any pressure to make them big or expensive gifts. And the kids don't ask for big gifts for the reason that they don't see a lot of the American cartoon television, which is packed with all those manipulative commercials for big toys that look so fantastic.

"When they do see that stuff is when they start asking for the toys, so we figure if they don't see them they won't know they're there. So we have gifts, but we try to keep the money spent to a minimum.

"The rule is that everyone's got to make something for someone else, you got to put time into it. Then, when they give to each other, it's really sweet. The gift-giving is a very nice time for us."

Stop your kids from watching TV and force them to make stuff? That's the Pitts alright (Ho Ho Ho!).

Or, if that sounds a bit like a posh celebrity sweatshop……

You could try emulate the lovely Cheryl, but only once everyone's favourite Northern lass makes up her own mind.

You see, Cheryl has already revealed her dilemma over whether to spend Christmas in London with his folks or Newcastle with hers. So it's a choice between wearing white trousers and matching sweaters while quaffing expensive wine in a Surrey mansion or eating chips and drinking John Smith's Ale up in t'Toon?

Hmmmmmm….it is a tough one.

Complicated Celeb Christmas is, well, complicated and involves multiple families and difficult arrangements. Take Madonna, who is rumoured to be spending Christmas with ex-husband Guy Ritchie – for the sake of the kids. However, according to reports, 'Madge, will also have a Mr "A-Rod" ensconced in a top London hotel so that she can spend some time with the new man too.
