The Showbiz Blog - Babies, Frocks and Gambling!

It's been a week of celebrity babies and bad red carpet frocks (not literally of course, that would be weird!).

 Gunas at the Globes
Beyonce got it half right... and half wrong!Ah to be a celebrity and to have fancy dresses thrown at you for every event you even consider going to… why then do so many of them get it wrong so often? (says me sitting here in my jeans and Smurfs t-shirt!). There were some fabulous creations trotted down the red carpet at this year's Golden Globes but there was also some very odd choices. One of my favourites was Sandra Bullock's dress. One of my least favourites was Renee Zellweger's. (Have a look here if you can't remember.)

Celebrity Babyville
Gary and Dawn Barlow have welcomed their third child, little Daisy. It's been a week for new arrivals in Hollywood, London and numerous other celeb-infested cities around the globe and these are always stories that we want to read about and talk about, right? Everyone loves a good baby story so that they can gossip over the name choices (be they odd or sensible) and then maybe 'ooo' and 'aah' over the baby pics in a glossy mag a few weeks later. This week saw the arrival of Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck (bit of a mouthful but still veering closer to normality than most celeb offspring), Daisy Barlow (what a cute name) and Dexter Lloyd Henson (I can't decide whether it's an unusual name choice from the lovely Charlotte Church and her rugby star fella Gavin Henson or if I just think that because I've been watching the new series of 'Dexter', the oddest character in TV history!).

Gambling the wages away!
Verne - can he win CBB?If I was a betting girl (which I am) I'd be thinking of throwing a few quid on one of the many reality TV shows that I am currently glued to but it's so hard to pick your best options for making a few quid (let's face it, we don't want to be losing all our hard-earned cash in these recession times!). I'm thinking Ray Quinn would probably be the sensible bet in 'Dancing on Ice' and my heart (along with the bookies' odds) says that Verne Troyer could be the man to lift the 'Celebrity Big Brother' crown but the odds don’t inspire me to rush down to the bookies' offices… maybe top three betting is the way to go… or maybe I should get some sense, like my mammy is always telling me to do!
