The Clinic - Episode Six
This week seemed to be the week that lots of things came to a head at Clarence Street, with dramatic consequences. Lorcan's big secret was finally revealed to everyone, poor Annie got bad news, Dan's jealously resurfaced yet again and Ruairí held Daisy's hands for just a little bit longer than necessary (finally!).
Lorcan's guilt and Clodagh's interfering
I felt a bit sorry for poor Lorcan this week when he discovered that Annie is now HIV positive as a result of the attack on both him and her. You could see from the beginning that he was very fond of Annie and Bart so it must have been horrible news to deliver. Her reaction must have made it easier though, in spite of the fact that she also let the cat out of the bag in front of Patrick. I have to say I've enjoyed all of Annie's storylines this year. The character is a great mix of vulnerability and strength. When she's around Dave she seems to become just that little bit vulnerable. She'll do anything for him - scout for drugs, lie to Lorcan, whatever it takes. But when she's concerned for Bart and tackling her own demons she's really brave and strong. I think she's a really interesting character to watch.
It's hard to know how it's all going to work out for Lorcan now. The teaser at the end of the show seemed to suggest that Daisy is set to back him, while taking a stand against Dan but what will everyone else think now that the truth is out in the open? Will Clodagh be implicated too? After all, she did break the rules by testing Dave without his consent. Let's hope Lorcan realises what she's risked for him because he's been a bit too selfish for my liking lately. I know he's had a lot on his plate but she's been trying to make life easier for him. It wouldn't hurt if he noticed every now and then!
The new clinic
I have to say I'm really liking Edel (played by Victoria Smurfit) so far. I think she'll be a great addition to the team at Clarence Street. She seems to have a real no-nonsense approach and she's keen to help out, without taking over. Plus, the fact that we get to see how much she's struggling with being away from her children makes her really likeable. I'm with Grace, I like her!
Daisy and Grace's new crusade
I really liked the storyline where Daisy and Grace went out to take part in the outreach programme. Some of the stories there are probably going to be very sad in the coming weeks and no better two than Grace and Daisy to help the girls out. I'm glad Ruairí talked Daisy into doing the programme. How could she say no? Let's face it, you'd be listening if lovely Ruairí was trying to talk you into something! And I love that Dan is getting ridiculously jealous of Ruairí even though he has no real reason to. That whiteboard comment was brilliant!
Cara deserves some happiness
And lastly to Cara - I'm so pleased to see her having a bit of romance in her life. She's a great character but she's been very unlucky in love, and indeed in life, the last few years. She deserves a bit of fun.
