The Clinic - Episode Eight

Grace takes the lead
Grace takes the leadGrace Sefate has been slowly building up her presence in Clarence Street since her arrival this season and this week she tackled a lead storyline brilliantly. The mystery surrounding Grace’s sister Jasmine has heightened in recent weeks but few might have predicted the final outcome. Grace finding her sister might resulted in relief for the kind-hearted doctor but instead it resulted in a heart-breaking revelation that would change her life forever. Not only did she find out that her sister was abused when she was younger but she also had to come to terms with the news that her father was the perpetrator. On top of that Grace was left with a real sense of guilt, about knowing that something may have been wrong at home. These scenes were played superbly, filled with mixed emotions, really giving us a sense of Grace’s shock, pain and guilt at the revelations that would change her family life forever.

Poor Ruairi
Ruairi - sad news for the DJ this weekThis week also heralded some pretty awful news for poor Ruairi, our favourite DJ/receptionist. He had to come to terms with the news that his father’s cancer had spread to both his brain and his lungs and treatment just didn’t seem like an option. Ruairi’s relationship with his father is one of the most believable in the show. They always come across as the typical father and son with their ups and downs and this week’s news really seemed to make them realise how much they mean to each other.

Clodagh and Lorcan
Lately every time I see this pair I want to scream at Lorcan: “Just kiss her already!”. Clodagh and Lorcan are obviously the perfect couple. Why? Because she’s much nicer and more likeable when he’s around and he’s less guarded and warmer when she’s nearby. So it just makes sense. Together they’re both better people, right?

Conor and Daisy - The End?
Corporate Daisy?Aw your heart would go out to poor Daisy. She’s trying her best to do right by everybody and she’s suffering herself as a result. She wants to make the clinic more successful to keep Cathy’s memory alive but it’s pretty hard when Conor won’t get behind her. And, bless her, she wants to mind Conor but he isn’t exactly making it easy for her. They’ve been through a lot together over the last few years so I kind of wanted them to stay together until this week. I always had a soft spot for Conor but he’s finally pushed it too far. Poor Daisy had no choice but to cut her ties but it’s sad all the same. They used to seem like the perfect couple.

What Next?
So what do we want to happen next? First up, Lorcan should tell Clodagh he loves her (we all know it, she must too). Secondly, down the line, how about Ruairi and Daisy? They could be a good couple once they’ve both had a bit of time to get over all the drama in their lives.

Well I think the writers have set Daisy free for a reason - and that's so that Dan can get his claws into her (metaphorically speaking of course !!) - that will be the straw that breaks the camels back for Alice - and she'll go down the drain once again .. that's what I can see happening ! Yes Clodagh & Lorcan - just get on with it ! Also that thing where (forget her name!) saved the mother by 'aborting' the baby hasn't gone away !
