Strictly Come Dancing - No More Dad Dancing!

So the voting British public took the not-too-subtle message from the Strictly judges and put the worst dancers in the bottom two in Blackpool on Saturday night.

It was all a bit predictable from the word go and I never felt that Craig was going through. Perhaps it was a case of him needing saving from himself. His stupid enthusiasm has entertained over the past few weeks but I think his time was up. As he danced off into the sunset he was still convinced that he has ‘mad skills’ on the dancefloor and now happily there will be no one to contradict him in that belief!

Similarly you feel that Ricky Groves is also nearing the end of his journey and I would be amazed if he did not go next week. He gives it everything he has but performance skills and his comic faces alone can only carry him so far in the competition so I reckon his number is up.

So who did I enjoy on Saturday? Chris and Ola’s foxtrot to ‘I Could Have Danced All Night’ was my own personal favourite. They scored a 34 for what was their best dance. I know Ali is a better natural dancer than Chris but I cannot see how there could have been six points between the two performances. As a male celebrity Chris has a harder job than Ali and I felt he deserved better marks.

Certainly Ali is one of the judges’ favourite and as long as she dances a clean performance they seem disposed towards giving her high marks. Personally I feel she started the show displaying amazing natural ability but I am not sensing massive improvement and feel that she could have performed that Viennese waltz to that standard in week one. Am I being too harsh?

The other person who is consistently at the top end of the leaderboard is Ricky Whittle and again I cannot get excited about watching him dance. He has been and continues to be a great dancer but I am hugely indifferent to his performances and would much rather watch the improvement displayed by Phil and Jade every week.

I am sorry to say that due to difficulties getting a two-year-old to bed on Saturday night I missed Rodders so have no idea how his performance went. Let me know if you saw it! I do wish the BBC would make Strictly available on You Tube!

It has taken half the series but I have finally figured out who I am backing and it is Chris and Ola. So come on Team Cola!!

You can watch Strictly on the bbc iplayer (unless its a UK only thing in which case, sorry bout that), same goes for It Takes Two. I really enjoyed the show. Im very glad Craig is gone, my girlfriend and I were biting our nails hoping he wouldnt survive :) I thought Ricky Whittle was over marked again, he made 2-3 big mistakes and still got 9's , thats ridiculous and not fair to the other couples who dont make any mistakes (even if their dancing is to a lesser quality). Keep up the good work with this blog, I enjoy reading it :)

Team Cola all the way! Loving them, and I thought their dance was great on Saturday! I agree that the judges do seem to have their favorites and mark them accordingly, even when they have made mistakes. Although I think Ali and Ricky Whittle are both great dancers, and I'm enjoying watching them both dance, I think that peopleit doesn't come to as naturally (like Chris) should be given more praise than they are currently getting! Still love the show though, and loved the Blackpool show, the dancefloor was amazing! :)

Ricky Whittle's tango was superb apart from the slip at the end which was unusual in that you normally would not throw your partner to the floor in a tango and atempt to pick her up again which is really down to the pro dancer to get right in rehearsals. A bit too ambious perhaps. At this stage it's looking like Ali - v Ricky (Whittle) in the finals but I would not write off Anton or Ian

I love both Laila/Anton and Jade/Ian. I know the judges deducted a point each for the lift in Laila and Anton's routine but 7s were still ridiculously low. Jade and Ian seem to get great comments every week but then the scores they're given don't match up. The judges definitely have their favourites and it's not fair!
