Strictly Come Dancing - Collateral Damage

Well I wasn’t expecting that result! Poor Zoe was collateral damage on Saturday night and once she was in the bottom two with Ali her fate was sealed.

It’s a real disappointment that she is gone as she had real potential and left the dancefloor with great dignity on Saturday. Much as I wanted Craig to make it to Blackpool it’s hard to see more talented dancers going home. I have to say though that I didn’t think much of her performance this weekend. Solid but unspectacular! I think James could have done a lot better in choreographing the routine. I am not a huge fan of the samba generally and their’s seemed a bit pedestrian.

After suggesting last week that Phil was my choice to go on Saturday I have to take it back and say he upped his game with his tango. While he only got so so comments from the judges I felt he made a huge leap forward and I really liked Katya’s routine. The other couple making solid progress is Ian and Jade. I am still not feeling the love for that girl but cannot dispute the fact that she is improving every week and seems to be getting great feedback from the judges.

Ricky got the highest score of the night with 39 and his performance was way ahead of the rest but I have to say that I agree with Craig about him being pigeon-toed – I had scribbled down that very phrase in my notes during his dance. Something to work on I think. I loved Craig’s aside that being bandy legged and pigeon-toed as a dancer had never stopped Brendan Cole! Alesha summed up Ricky’s performance by saying “you woz amazing”. I think I am beginning to join those suggesting that Alesha needs an Eliza Doolittle grammatical make-over!

Craig mentioning Brendan, and Matthew’s amazing pro performance with Aliona made me realise on Saturday how many of the great pros we have lost early this year. The two boys, as well as Darren and Lilia, are really missed. Another loss to the dancefloor is Karen Hardy who jumped (or was she pushed!?).

It was interesting this week that all the couples performed different dances but generally I find it easier to compare like with like so I hope next week it is back to normal in Blackpool. Craig I think the clock is ticking!

So disapointed to see Zoe and James go out this week! I agree that it wasn't her best performance, but neither herself or Ali deserved to be in the dance off, as they both had the potential to make it through to the end, I think. On another note, I thought Ricky Whittle was amazing, and well deserving of the score. It was the first dance of the series that actually made me say Wow! Looking forward to seeing more from him. Also loved Phil's tango, and was delighted to see Matthew back in two pro dances. I'm still upset he went out in the first week, possibly my favorite professional! Pro dances were fantastic again, I think I look forward to them more than celebrities some times! :)

I was also very disappointed to see Ali and Zoe in the bottom 2. Like Len said there are easily 5 couples who are worse than them. I am really getting fed up with Craig and Flavia - he's a nice guy but come on, he can't dance! Hopefully he will go out next week. Ricky and Natalie were brilliant again, really enjoying them. And I agree that it was great to see Matthew and Aliona dancing - what a brilliant dance. I love Matthew.

Have always loved watching this show, but this year they all seem a bit mediocre. Even the judges. Obviously frightened for their jobs when they saw what happened to acid tongued Arlene. Granted the celebs practise hard, but none of them are really great and none are really awful. I like Alisha Dickson, but she`s the wrong person to be giving advice . They need someone who has trained in dance and knows what they are talking about.

Zoe's demise was caused by the judges trying to pull the wool over the veiwing publics' eyes. She has no lack of ability and will be greatly missed. However, how she got a nine for that dance I will never know? For me it would have deserved a good 7 across the board. IMHO the great unwashed thought there was no need to vote as she was overmarked by the judges. Craig to go next. He's neither entertaining nor able to dance.

I agree with what everyone has said! Zoe is good but she looked uncomfortable in that dance and it was a bit boring. I love the way Ali dances and my heart went out to her and her sore foot. She looked like she was in pain throughout and even had to dance the dance off in flat ballet shoes. Loved Phil Tufnell. I thought he did a lot better than he was given credit for. Can't watch Craig dance anymore, it's too cringey. Also, don't really want to see Ricky Groves again. I know he's really giving it his all but he's not a natural dancer. Ricky Whittle is great, but his pigeon toes are a bit distracting and I'm very glad one of the Judges mentioned it. I don't really like his professional partner Natalie. I know all the pros are competitive but she seems that bit more competitive and I can't warm to her. Jade doesn't bother me and she is improving every week and I thought that Natalie did a great jive. Chris is very cute with Ola but not sure how much more of him I want to see. Laila and Anton - I wasn't that enamoured with their waltz. It didn't give me goosebumps. Maybe because Anton is still annoying me... Roll on next week on Blackpool!
