I'm A Celebrity - I Missed The Final

So a major strategic miscalculation on my part! Having watched hours of celebrity antics in the jungle over the past few weeks and enjoyed it for the most part, I managed to miss the final last Friday night.

Now there are few enough events in my social diary but on the night in question I found myself sitting in the O2 watching a four-hour version of Aida (it was that long because every 10 minutes or so they halted the show to rearrange the set complete with hammers banging etc - but enough of that I am over it!).

About ten minutes in my sister said to me that she was sorry to be missing I’m A Celebrity – ‘twas then I realised that firstly I was missing it and secondly I hadn’t asked if anyone else in the office would be watching. Later, around the time that my sister mentioned to me that if Aida did not die soon on stage that she was likely to get up there herself and kill her, we got a text message saying Gino had won. It was probably not appropriate to be texting at such a serious event – I mean some people were actually wearing tuxes.

At this point I concluded that all attempts to broaden my range of interests were wasted and in reality I would much prefer to be sitting at home, sipping tea and watching Gino be crowned King of Jungle.

So here I am trying to write a blog about a show I didn’t actually see. Unfortunately there are no repeats. You can watch the X Factor fifty times over the weekend if you are so inclined but I’m A Celebrity is a one shot and you’re out type programme.

All I really can say is I am delighted Gino won and also that Kim came second. I would not want to live with the woman but I suspect she has significantly lengthened her career with her participation. The same is true of Gino – that is unless he ends up in an Australian jail for his part in the slaughter of a rat. How ridiculous is that?

All in all this was a much better series than pervious ones and I reckon there is life in the old dog yet. It looks unlikely to go the way of Big Brother.

So what am I going to watch now?

Dan, thanks for that, as it happens I watched the coming out programme on Monday night but to be honest I don't think it added much to the overall series. If it had I would have added a blog to compensate for my lack of a proper final summing up.
