Grey's Anatomy - Elevator Love Letter
So we finally got a proposal from Derek but fittingly (after so much drama surrounding it) he was upstaged by Hunt's freak-out/murder attempt on Cristina. What do you expect if you spend months on end talking about proposing and never actually get round to doing the deed?
The proposal... finally Derek takes a hint!
So after Meredith basically telling Derek how she wanted him to propose, the conditions of the engagement, what he had to do to prove himself to her and how she could only respect him if he was a brilliant surgeon… Derek finally got the hint, pulled himself together and popped the question in unspectacular fashion. How unromantic was that whole x-rays in the lift thing? Yeah, it was right up Meredith's whiney, unconventional street but it just lacked sparkle or any kind of impulse?
Watch out Cristina
I really felt for poor Cristina this week as she tried her best to stick by Hunt, in spite of his dark side. You could see how much she wanted to be there for him but it was just so sad when she had to give in and admit that she was scared to go asleep because of his violent side. I think she's done pretty well in supporting him so far. Sure, he has a certain bad-boy charm about him but he's also pretty insensitive by times. But the fact that he was willing to let Derek help him just goes to show how much Cristina means to him. We might still get the happy-ever-after there.
Izzie's battle begins
After facing up to her condition last week, Izzie's battle really commenced this week as she prepared for her surgery, feeling really alone because none of her friends could face seeing her lying in the hospital bed. I'm glad for Bailey. Who else can tell people off the way she does and get away with it? I loved her little "Do better tomorrow" speech and how chuffed she was when Izzie told her that the scarf was for her.
As well as having sympathy for Izzie in all of this, you'd have to feel a bit sorry for poor Alex too. He's trying his best to do the right thing (he stuck up for the interns who were concerned about Izzie, he didn't hesitate when asked if he would consider having children with Izzie and he's trying to hold it together for her) but he's crumbling inside because he realises that all the stuff that he was excited about over the last few weeks just won't be as much fun if Izzie isn't there to share it with him. Cue tears… honestly, I'm turning into such a blubbering wreck watching the show these days. It's just so sad. You want Izzie to pull through but at the back of your mind you're thinking of those stories about Katherine Heigl leaving the show and you're left feeling a little pessimistic about her scenario again.
