Desperate Housewives - In A World Where The Kings Are Employers
So Susan is losing the run of herself completely, turning into the scariest ex-wife ever. Tom is having a mid-life meltdown. And Dave is pottering away with his evil plan, pretty much undetected… Somebody stop him!
Susan the crazy lady!
Susan has always been one of my favourite housewives. Why? Because she's a little bit scatty, doesn't think before she speaks and is a bit useless when it comes to cooking or cleaning or any kind of domestic task really. She's a little bit normal, in an eccentric kind of way - the kind of person who makes you feel a little bit better about your own life. But this week she turned into a crazy lady - mean, jealous and very bitter. They're all very real emotions for the situation that she finds herself in but they just don't become her. With some people insecurity might mean nervousness or self-doubting. With Susan it's screaming in a dramatic fashion, pointing an accusatory finger and just generally being way too shrill for anyone's liking. And it's all because she wants Mike back (well, I think so anyway!). She might not be showing it directly right now but she's so jealous of all things Katherine it's genuinely cringeworthy.
The Struggling Scavos
Poor Tom and Lynette. They've made sacrifice after sacrifice for their kids and still it's not enough. Their business is falling apart, Tom is crumbling and the children seem a bit oblivious as to the gravity of their financial woes. And while this storyline is believable and really well acted, I can't help wanting happy Tom and Lynette back. They're a great couple and are the most normal of the lot but misery doesn't suit them and they don't seem as nice when they're doing the whole stressed thing. Besides they actually deserve to be happy… in a perfect world that is.
Orson v Andrew
Orson should have learned by now that Bree has a mind of her own. Trying to make her believe that he is better than Andrew is only going to end in tears, a) because he's not better than Andrew b) because Bree hates being told how to feel and c) because being underhanded about these things is never a good idea when you're dealing with someone who is military in all their operations… you're always going to get caught. And I kind of hope he does get caught. I love Andrew. He's really developed as a character in the show, from his teenage rebellion and struggle to accept his sexuality onwards (even with Bree's words of encouragement, along the lines of 'we'd love you even if you were a murderer').
Other Loose Ends
Go Gaby with the blackmail. You've got to love how she always gets her own way, at any cost! And what's the deal with Dave? I wish more people would start to get suspicious of him. Even Tom seems to have forgotten his scrap with him last week. We need Lee and Mrs McCloskey to team up and do some detective work now!
