Desperate Housewives- Me and My Town - Episode 9

Drama ahoy! The aftermath of the fire threw up a few surprises for everyone on Wisteria Lane this week. There were miracles (Carlos realising he may get his sight back), domestics (Bree v Orson – snoring, drugging, surrendering), revelations (Anne says she was never pregnant to begin with – I wonder), secrets jumping out of the bag (Katherine and Mike were never going to be able to keep that one hush, hush for long), new romances (Andrew seems to have found himself a nice, respectable boyfriend) and of course blame (the finger of suspicion is pointing at wild-child Porter but can Dave keep up the act?).

Wow, that's a whole lot of action for one episode of the show. My mind is twirling round a bit just trying to remember it all, and that's good because last series we had been complaining that things were a big slow-moving on Wisteria Lane so it’s great to get back to the action, full steam ahead.

Could Gaby look like this again next week?!For me, Gaby is the character of this series. Lynette was always my favourite housewife and I still think Felicity Huffman is a superb actress but Eva Longoria is getting all the great lines this season. She's just so real, compared with the polished Gaby that we knew before. I love how she berated Susan for saying the 'right' thing last night. It was great. Sometimes, no matter how much the truth hurts, you do need to hear some hard facts in order to spark some reaction in you and make you do something. Her scene with Juanita and Celia was brilliant too. I love her very direct parenting. It would have been totally unrealistic if Gaby had become a softly-spoken doting mammy overnight. Her feisty spirit is what makes her such a great character and I'm glad they didn't tone down that element of her when they were toning down her wardrobe.

Andrew has a new romance - and it's cute.Next to the new romances on the street – how sweet did Andrew seem with his new doctor boyfriend? I'm loving what they've done with Andrew this season. All the anger and nastiness didn't really suit him. He works better as the charmer with the razor sharp tongue. And let's hope this time Bree is impressed with his choice of boyfriend. She can't complain, right? He's handsome, charming, has a good job, is polite and gave her back her silent husband – what's not to like? And speaking of romances, I actually think that Katherine and Mike make a cute couple, although I secretly want him to get back with Susan. They belong (plus we might get to see more of that cute kid if they get back together!).

Next to the fire investigation – enter two of the oddest cops in history (What is going on with that pair? I just can't take them seriously. They're all clichés and stereotypical behaviour). Anyway, they seem hell-bent on worshipping Dave and incriminating poor Porter but maybe Lynette and Tom can save the day… possibly with a little help from Mrs McCloskey, who knows?
