Britain's Got Talent - The Final

Deserving winners.Woo hoo for Diversity. I have to say I was so happy for them when they were announced as the winners of this year's show. They just seemed like really deserving winners and they stood out from the crowd on Saturday night. Because a lot of the other performers either rehashed a previous performance or had lost their shock factor, Diversity were one of the few who genuinely upped their creativity on the night. Their routine was slick, it was so clever (loved those judges' buzzers) and it was the sort of thing you'd never think of yourself (Transformers, Superman, Britain's Got Talent all rolled into one great display).

Amazing performer.Simon made a great point when he observed that although they are all different ages, heights etc, there is never a step out of place. I've now watched their winning routine about six times and each time I've noticed little tricks that I didn't see the time before. Unbelievable choreography from Ashley Banjo and superb dancing from all of his troupe, especially little Perri Kelly (And no, not just because he's very cute - did you see those moves? Half of the time he was mid-air and when he wasn't he was doing backflips from standing still, amazing!). Thrilled too to hear that the guys are going to get to perform with Kanye West this summer.

The right result
Poor Susan lost out on the public vote.As much as I thought that Diversity totally deserved to win on Saturday night, I did feel a bit sorry for Susan Boyle. It must have been hard to stand there and hear someone else being crowned winner after listening to everyone telling you that you had it in the bag for weeks on end. She seemed gracious in defeat on the night but it's sad to now read the stories about poor Susan having to check into the Priory after her stint on the show... which reignites the issue of how well equipped some of the contestants are to deal with the fame and the expectations of the public. Most of these shows look after the participants really well but regardless it must be hard to go from being a normal punter to being front-page news overnight.

And there's also the issue of young children taking part - again most of them are massively entertaining and seem to love the experience, but should they be judged alongside the adults and, when they are, do the same rules actually apply for both groups? The judges did a nice thing for Hollie Steel on her semi-final night by allowing her to perform for a second time when she got nervous first time out but would they have done the same for Jamie Pugh or Julian Smith or even Susan Boyle? I honestly don't know. Maybe they would have. That said, they'd be only human to feel sorry for the little ones when they get overwhelmed by it all.

A real star.Poor little Aidan Davis was a classic example of it on final night. That child is a superb dancer and a great little choreographer for his age but let's remember that he had less than 24 hours to get himself ready for the final of the show. That's not easy and then to be told that your performance wasn't as good as the night before must leave you gutted. What made you feel for Aidan all the more was that he really didn't want to make a fuss and wiped his tears with the sleeve of his jumper in order to try to be grown up and brave about it all. (See, as hard as I try myself, it is hard to judge the kiddies by the same standards as the adults.)

Also on final night...
what it's all about... lots of fun.I once again remembered why I loved Stavros Flately so much on final night. I didn't expect them to win but those two are just amazing. They crack me up every time I see them. Simon hit the nail on the head when he said that they just make people happy. It's so true. You can't help laughing when you're watching them. You can tell they are having fun themselves and it's just so infectious. I hope we see more of them in the future.

Amazing performances throughout the show.I also have to give a mention to Julian Smith. I was so thrilled that he was placed third because for him that was probably enough to make him realise that people love what he does and boost his confidence. It was an act that probably shouldn't have done well in the public vote (one man and one instrument in a world of gimmicks) but Julian's skill and his likeable personality did wonders for him. I had a tear in my eye watching all of his performances during the series. He just put so much emotion into the songs.

And the last word has to go to Flawless... aw the irony of it all. Although I loved their catchphrase... Maybe they should have chased the competition, as well as that dream!

I was delighted that Diversity won - so talented!! There are plenty of people who can sing well, but not so many that can dance like that - deserved winners! I feel very strongly about introducing an age limit to the show - children under 16 should not be allowed to enter, they are too young to deal with the pressure and disappointments, it's devastating for them. They'll all be just as talented in a few years time.

I was so thrilled that Diversity won...wow wow wow! I was glued to the screen watching them! I really thought Susan Boyle was over rated, ok she is a great singer - but not deserving of second, that was down to her appearance at first and the publicity that followed. So it was great to see the top talent win!As far as age limit goes, thats a hard one,Diversity would not have been allowed enter - nevermind win.I guess kids who are talented and go to auditions learn about disappointment younger than others anyway? Hard to call because it would isolate a really talented group of young people, but I do hear what you are saying Katie.
