Big Brother - Tears Before, During and After Bedtime (Again)
In the words of Oscar Wilde, you would have to have a heart of stone not to laugh. Bea's reaction to her video message last night and Rodrigo's reaction to her reaction was the funniest thing on the show since Freddie's bedroom outrage during Bunnyrabbitgate.
Here's what happened in case you missed it: Bea comes out of the screening room moaning (oddly enough) that she got a message from one of her oldest friends and not from her mother and 12 hours later she's still banging on about it. And Rodrigo was still laughing.
During that time we were treated to such classic Beaisms as "I'm genuinely upset", "I'm not making a drama out of it" and "I don't want to make a big deal out of it" (hang on, that last one might have been a previous crisis), frantic backtracking to try to impress on the others that she wasn't disappointed to see "a really good friend of mine" - it's just that it wasn't her mother - and worrying about being evicted (a-ha!).
With every passing minute you became more convinced that Bea will get 99.9% of the eviction vote this week - if I'd gone to the trouble of doing a message for someone and they reacted like that I'd have that eviction number on speed dial. She made a complete fool of herself and wasn't able to laugh it off. It's just amazing that the other housemates didn't have to use a token to get canisters of oxygen for themselves. Looking at Rodrigo, you were just glad you didn't sit beside him in school as with that laugh you would have spent most of your younger years in detention, too.
Apart from Bea's bellyaching, the only other thing of note on last night's show was the fact that Sophie got two video messages, one from mother and friend (although I don't think they said which was which and I spent the whole time thinking "Does Sophie's mam look really youthful or is her best pal in her 50s?') and one from evicted heartthrob Kris. I thought I'd seen the back of him and it was disappointing that Sophie regressed into that whole gooey, needy, 'do you think he really likes me?' thing once again. A bit of emotional independence would go a long way there - and don't forget, Sophie, people booted him out, so he could hurt your chances of winning.
I know, I'm really cold. But at least if I was in there and a friend had done me a video message I'd be thankful that they had taken the time to try and brighten my day.
