Big Brother - It's All Over Now!
Well, that's it for another year and I, for one, walk away from Big Brother 10 feeling that the lovely Sophie Reade was a most deserving winner. She was humble and genuinely appreciative of people's support but she was also an entertaining housemate throughout. Too often the so-called 'deserving' winners a bit boring. Sophie certainly wasn't!
Sophie tops the poll
The thing that struck me most about Sophie was that she always seemed genuine. She wasn't afraid to show her insecurities. She wasn't afraid to get drunk and make a fool of herself. She wasn't afraid to be seen on camera without her make-up, even though she's a model. She wasn't afraid to fall in and out love, to get cross with other housemates, to take a stand against the crowd or to make unpopular decisions. Sophie is her own woman. OK, so she might need a bit of help finding her way from A to B if the geography task is anything to go by but that's a small thing. I'm sure she can afford a sat nav now!
The right result
So there was no shock in Sophie topping the poll on Friday night, nor in the fact that she claimed 74.4% of the vote, but there was some surprise in the order of the evictions. Personally I was shocked that Rodrigo was first out of the house (yes he was prone to the odd hissy-fit every now and then but he was mostly good as a housemate). I wasn't too shocked that Charlie was next but he certainly seemed to be! And then came David and I have to say fair play to him. It's a fairly rare thing to see half-way housemates surviving until final night and coming in in third place.
For me he really came to life after Lisa's departure. It's not that Lisa wasn't nice to him, quite the opposite. I think she maybe minded him too much and, as a result, he didn't mix with the others that much. When it came down to the final two I was praying that Sophie would win. I know Siavash had been on a big journey in the house but he just hadn't been an entertaining housemate over the last few weeks and I always want the winner to be someone who has made me laugh or even get cross. I just didn't really feel anything about his recent antics, other than that he was desperately seeking approval towards the end (especially with that little 'I think I'll leave now' stunt on David's birthday).
Favourite moments
Although it was slack in parts this year's show definitely threw up some very interesting moments that will go down in Big Brother history. Here are a few of my favourite moments:
Rodrigo meets the Queen
This was sheer entertainment, made all the more funny by the fact that he was so into it, while we all knew that it wasn't real. Yeah, it was cruel too but even Rodrigo saw the funny side afterwards so no real harm done there.

Aliens on tour!
Probably the funniest moment of the series for me was when David received that phonecall from Big Brother while riding up top in that double-decker bus, dressed as an alien, and Lisa proceeded to answer him, thinking that he was talking to her. Yeah, I know it doesn't sound like it should be funny but it just was.

Freddie speaks his mind
Well there were no shortage of occasions where Freddie felt the need to speak his mind and share his views but his tirade after the "rabbit" leak was probably the funniest one of these moments. I remember switching on mid-argument and thinking that the housemates were re-enacting some dramatic scene for a task but no, just Freddie being Freddie. Watch the YouTube clip here.
On a final point, although I really enjoyed her analysis of the housemates, I have to disagree with psychology expert Judy James when she said of Rodrigo: "Dolls don't win Big Brother". I think the very-dolly Sophie would beg to differ. Sometimes the living doll does win out.
