Big Brother - Give It Up Already!
Big Brother the summer is clearly over so will you please release the contestants and your audience from the prolonged torture of this series.
If things had wrapped up a month ago we would have walked away saying there had been a reasonable amount of drama with the Noirín/Marcus/Siavash/Isaac quadrangle, Freddie’s torture by Queen Bea and the early divided house when Lisa ruled the roost. As it is people like Kris left so long ago that I struggle to remember his and the other contestants’ names. Anyone recall Beinazir? Not me!
The most interesting people have left the building. For me only Marcus and Freddie are memorable. People like Noirín have had their 15 minutes of undressed fame so it is hard to believe that the show is still trucking along.
The end of term feeling in the house is manifesting itself in different ways for the remaining inmates. Lisa has rediscovered her inner ‘incredible hulk’ and is snarling at anyone who is not David. David himself is just cooking more Yorkshire puddings and drinking tea. Charlie is twitchy – his desperation to win is causing erratic mood swings and leading him to behave like a confused ten-year-old. Rodrigo is in a similar position but managing to keep it in check. These boys really want to win this thing and I think they are set for disappointment.
My main concern for Siavash at this point is for his personal hygiene. Is anyone else obsessed with the fact that he has been wearing that get-up since last week? And where did he get that jumper? Is his unitard being laundered by BB at night or has he been wearing it all the time? Sophie has her own problems - chiefly with her hair. Seriously girl cut it right back and start from scratch. Otherwise you will go bald.
Comedy moment of last night for me was the non-break out that four of the housemates staged. Did you ever see such a lack of enthusiasm particularly from Charlie and Rodrigo? Eventually Charlie said he was going to have a shower and that was the end of that. Siavash and Sophie did seem a little more interested but not that much.
The fact is the audience feels pretty much as they do so roll on Friday night.
