Big Brother - Job Centres and Bus-Stops!
So Lisa has left the building and didn't have a whole lot to say for herself as she exited… but a few big questions must be asked – How will David manage on his own at that bus-stop? Will Lisa head down to the job centre today? And can anyone stop Sophie now?
The Shock Eviction?
Generally the mid-week evictions on the final week of Big Brother hold some kind of surprise factor but this year it was all pretty uneventful, even a little bit boring. There was no shock when it came to the announcement. It had to be David or Lisa and it was the latter. There was no shock factor in the format – no double eviction, no drama. And after all that Lisa didn't even say anything controversial. She wasn't gutted to leave on the final week, she wasn't mean to any of her fellow housemates and she wasn't very memorable at all in her post-eviction interview. The only thing that struck me was that she smiled a lot, something she didn't do an awful lot in the house. (She also said the word 'Davina' over and over and over again but nothing else was note-worthy at all).
You have been watching… Big Brother!
It's always a bit of fun when Big Brother decides to show the housemates how they are being edited and therefore how they might come across to the public. The reactions are always interesting. Siavash just couldn't watch the episode and showed the first signs of real remorse for his actions. Some might say it was cruel for Big Brother to pick that particular episode to screen but I think it was good preparation for him. He's going to have to face some pretty tough questions when he does eventually leave the house. It's better for him to have a taster of it all now and prepare to answer for his actions. Lisa and Sophie showed very normal reactions to the footage – they didn't like their voices etc. But Charlie and Rodrigo had a much more serious concern… people could hear everything they said during their bedroom whispers late at night… was their secret out?!
The task that followed the video screening was fun, if not as funny as some previous tasks. Poor Sophie provided most of the laughs with her appalling attempts to do an Irish accent. What was also very interesting was Charlie's reaction to the task. Did anyone else think that he might have liked to play Noirín to Rodrigo's Siavash? His face seemed like thunder watching Sophie having all the fun… or maybe I'm reading too much into it all.
An End in Sight
So Big Brother is drawing to a close and, like last year, it's a bit difficult to call a winner. Smart money would have to say Sophie (she's sweet, inoffensive and seems very popular with the public) but could Charlie or Rodrigo sneak up to snatch some votes and take the title? And Siavash can't be ruled out either, although personally I don't think he's been very entertaining over the last few weeks. I really liked him at the beginning and I thought he recovered a bit after the whole Noirín affair but now I fear his ass might be a little bit sore from sitting on that fence for too long. For me, David has done well to survive until the last week, considering that he was a half-way housemate, but I don't think he's done enough to win. And if it's a case of the most deserving person walking away with the measly prize fund then that's probably Sophie I think.
