Piano albums live in their own special kind of bubble and really work when you find you're stuck in one yourself - Paul Buchanan's Mid Air and Plush's More You Becomes You are among the best for such situations.

Now, unlike those two, there are no straight-to-the-heart vocals on Joanna Jakma's debut, but stick it on either side of those classics and it proves itself to be good small hours company.

While 13 is three tracks too many here, Jakma's playing never becomes too showy and throughout you hear the potential to fill the sound with more instruments next time; slot in some guest singers or, indeed, offer services to soundtracks. The fundamentals are good, with Heavy Raindrops a real stick-on-repeat highlight of a small record done well, and one which can put you to sleep for the right reasons.
