With the release of 'Root for Ruin', those who have never forgiven themselves for missing Les Savy Fav over the October bank holiday weekend in Dublin in 2007 have confirmation that there'll be a return visit sooner rather than later and a chance to make amends.

But, in the best way, this album won't make the wait any easier, because the desire to hear these songs live gets stronger with every listen, as does the feeling that the American quintet's best kept secret status could be coming to an end.

Catchy, funny and full of inspirational hardcore energy and rough-around-the-edges class, this is a record that shows Les Savy Fav deserve space alongside the life-changers and trail-blazers in a collection and makes you yearn for the pre-download days when a lot more fuss would be made of it.

That time is gone, but the present and future have become just a little brighter because of these songs, and a sleeping bag outside the venue sounds like a perfectly sensible idea.
